Okay the tide line is called a scum line. It is the same line you get in a bath after you have used it. Essentially it is suntan lotion, make up and other bits and pieces that end up floating on the surface of the pool. Generally speaking you will never permanently get rid of it. THe shops have various product/devices you can use however the tried and trusted method is a HCL acid mix 10:1 with water and simply wash it off. The acid will not greatly affect the pool chemistry and the problem is gone until next time. I am more concerned about your pavers. They are concrete without a doubt or reconstituted stone (same thing for our purpose). The pool water is most likely attacking teh underside of the pavers, or your paving is sloped into the pool not away from. Removal of the white deposit is reasonably straight forward and you will probably find the previous HCL mix is strong enough to move it. If not you can make a stronger batch and if this does not work pressure wash it off then acid treat the stain to remove. I would seriously consider consulting a selaing company to look at the pavers. HTH Re: Swimming Pool Systems 6Jan 26, 2008 8:11 am FionaL I need help! We just brought a house and the pool is green. We've refilled it so it's over the filter. Now what??? This is not really the best avenue for this type of question. I would strongly suggest taking a litre of water down to a local pool shop and talking to them. They are used to new pool owners and will be able to assist you much better than I can on this forum. The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place.
