Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Mar 14, 2011 10:46 pm I am wanting to get a inground fibreglass swimming pool before next summer. I have been quoted $36,000 for 9metre by 2.78 lap pool. Which is a special size, meaning they cut a 12 metre standard size into two peices making a 9 metre length, COMPASS POOLS. My concern is will I have trouble with that join (cut) in years to come, with the shifting of the earth. But they offer a lifetime warranty on the shell. Has anyone had a lap pool made to size less than 12 metres, and has any one had trouble with the cut/join. I am very restricted with no more that a 3 metre width pool, and am not fond of concrete pools. Or I can get a PLUNGE pool, 6 metre long /3 mtre wide, in a diy kit for $10,500, with filter pump and delivery. I just have to find a pool contractor to install it with a plumber and electrician. I have signed a contract for $36000 but then had a friend talk me out of my contract and into a Owner Builder Fibreglass pool and have only 2 days left to get out of contract ( 5 days cooling off period). in that $36000 price was the pop up floor cleaning system ($5000) is it worth getting the floor cleaning system if I stay with Pool Builder. SHould I stay with contract builder or attempt owner builder..... I am quite a hands on person so I wouldn't see the owner builder being a big issue if it saves me thousands of dollars. But on the other hand don't want to bite off more than I can chew. My friend installed his own fibreglass pool, and suggest I do the same with a bit of his help. Any advice would be appreciated. Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 2Mar 15, 2011 10:03 am To be honest...that sounds very overpriced. Why pay 36K when you could pay 25K? Can't comment on in-floor cleaning. Leisure Pools said in-floor cleaning is ok but just means more things can go wrong with the pool. Obviously they would say this because they don't want to lose customers to Compass...but it kinda makes sense. 31K (if you remove cleaning) is still expensive...I'm guessing this is for their 'ceramic' shell? From all reports, this has no added benefits over fibreglass. So cut another 5K off for that and then you're down around the 25K mark...much more respectable price. Not sure about the 'cutting'....I would assume there is no issues with this though. Also, I thought Leisure Pools were the only company to offer lifetime warranty on shell. You better double check that with Compass...I think it might be 25 years or something (which is still good in my opinion). Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 3Mar 15, 2011 5:44 pm Hi agent.... We spoke last week in another conversation on this forum website. UNO what I pulled the pin on my contract with compass pools. You don't by chance work for leisure pools? Or you simply just had one installed by leisure pools! You were gonna do the harmony pool from what I recall in our last conversation. Have u had it done yet? Your right UNO with the infloor cleaning system and the ceramic.... Is that what it cost you $25k? Look forward to hearing from u. Regards dingdongdarna Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 4Mar 15, 2011 6:13 pm I also confirmed... the Compass 9 metre lap pool is made from two moulds put together, not a cut in a 12 metre like I though. But still there's a join. I will get in contact with Leisure Pools tomorrow. Compass Pool sales rep did try and tell me the life time warranty would cover any problems with the shell in future years to come. Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 5Mar 15, 2011 6:32 pm We have a compass pool, not a lap pool though but wanted to add that the infloor cleaning is amazing. There is no need to to hand vac the pool or for a creepy crawley. The infloor pushes anything on the bottom of the pool to the in floor drain. It makes the pool maintenance so much less. We wouldn't be without it now. Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 6Mar 15, 2011 9:02 pm Good to hear Fairy. I imagine if you live in an area with plenty of trees, dust etc. the infloor cleaning would be well worth the money. DingDong - no I don't work for Leisure Pools lol. I was in a similiar predicament and narrowed my pool down to these two companies. In the end I went with Leisure because I liked their pool slightly better and they seemed a tad more professional. However, from all reports both are very good companies and I don't think you'll go wrong with either Leisure or Compass. Haven't installed our pool yet...we are gonna wait closer to summer (August/September). We've signed the contract and just have to let Leisure know when we're right to go. And yep, we chose the Harmony. We love how this pool has a bench which goes the entire length of the pool. There really is a lot of choices in Fibreglass now...makes for a very tough decision. Good luck with whatever you choose. Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 7Mar 15, 2011 9:26 pm we got a 6m x 3m elegance pool by leisure pools installed just before christmas, it is the perfect size for our young children and every kid whose swam in it are now really confident swimmers as it has a ledge all the way around. they were extremely professional and we got a great deal with waterfall and other equipment. We checked out compass but were not comfortable with them and they were way more expensive with hidden costs. Building at Sierra Estate. Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 8Mar 16, 2011 7:57 am Hi Kavother, Yeah I agree in terms of price. Everyone was saying Leisure Pools would be more expensive but in the end they actually worked out cheaper. Plus we got $9000 of extras for free including led lights, waterfall, upgrade to shimmer colour, dolphin robotic cleaner, platinum range of equipment and more. Out of curiosity, what waterfall did you get? We put TBA in our contract and can't decide between the Oasis or the waterwall. We are getting a Sand Filter so that won't fit into the back of the Oasis...I still like the Oasis better because it's bigger but my wife likes the waterwall better. Also, what coping tiles did you go with? We are going natural stone but can't seem to decide which one....limestone, travertine, sandstone, granite etc. So many options. Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 9Mar 18, 2011 8:14 pm Agent are you getting leisure to install? What size are you going with the harmony? With the water feature.... Does all the plumbing fit into the back of the water feature? What colour did you go? I have been looking in pool magazines and the travertine stone looks really nice. Depending on cost..... Because my yard is long and narrow I am going a very light blue shimmer colour pool, With a almost white/ off white travertine stone , and glass fencing because I want to Keep my yard looking big and spacious. Dark colour make yard look too small, and pool . Kavother did Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 10Mar 18, 2011 8:31 pm we have the elegance pool with a waterfall at shallow end which houses all the pool equipment. im pretty sure its the cascade but only has the centre spout, we havnt hooked it up yet as we are yet to pave. we had the pool area and alfresco rough concreted and are trying to get quotes for sandstone paving and copers, we thought wed wait till near end of swimming season as you cant use the pool for three weeks, im totally blown away by some of the figures, around $17k! we have the glass fence from bunnings we have temp installed it now but will need to come out when paving done. Building at Sierra Estate. Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 11Mar 18, 2011 8:42 pm We have just had a 10 x 3 lap pool installed, it's a fiberglass pool from Aqua Technics...the pool itself installed was just under 20k. Take a look... http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gi ... 6947428413 Only 2 members..... This will not deter me to build with leisure pools...... Thanks to Agent, I changed my mind from Compass Pools to Leisure Pools. But we are doing an Owner Builder with Camden Council NSW. But this problem with the guy on facebook makes me aware to keep me aware to make my pool square and parrallel to my house. But would any one really notice other than him, realising when the pavers were being laid that his pool wasn't square with the house. The aerial picture you can really notice....... Something to keep my eye on when doing ours I guess. And you too Agent!! Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 13Mar 20, 2011 3:18 pm Golly Gosh....... Agent I don't know where you are located, and what Leisure Pools franchise is doing your pool installation, but check out the web site below..... And Kavother did you have any problems with Leisure Pools installation?? I just plan on buying the kit from Leisure Pools and finding a reputable Pool Installer to do the install along with some friends whom have installed pools also, as an owner builder anyway. But I was just referred to a web site www.notgoodenough.org.au and did some research on Leisure Pools. You should take a look Agent.... Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 14Mar 20, 2011 7:45 pm touch wood i havnt had any problems. our installer was great and very thorough but my husband was also looking on and making sure the install went smoothly. we havnt laid the pavers yet but it looks pretty square and they were measuring heaps. my only concern is that they put it closer to our boundary fence than ideal so it would be a further 100ml off the house. i think it depends on area cos we could have had an installer from the next suburb but got warnings about him and praise of the one we chose. so you really need to check the credibility of the builder/installer and ask for a copy of his licence and insurance. Building at Sierra Estate. Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 15Mar 21, 2011 8:13 am dingdong - firstly, I'm glad you found my information handy. But remember, I have only signed a contract and the building process hasn't even started yet. As I mentioned in a previous post...we narrowed our choices down to Compass and Leisure. After extensive research we found plenty of positives on both companies and I'm sure whoever you choose will do a good job. I had a look at the notgoodenough website and it doesn't phase me really. There's bound to be some unhappy people somewhere in the line and I've spoken to people who have gone through Leisure and they couldn't recommend them highly enough. So far our service with Leisure has been brilliant...although you would kind of expect that during the sales side of things. I'm someone who does plenty of research before purchasing anything (especially something of this cost), and I'm very confident Leisure will deliver the pool we are dreaming of. I will also be taking holidays when the pool is being installed so I'm at home if the builders have any questions or they're doing something which doesn't seem right. I've also drawn my own diagram (to scale) of the pool and surrounding area (including fencing) and will make sure the job finishes the way we want it. All in all, enjoy the experience...a pool is meant to be fun and I see no reason why the installation can't be fun as well. I'm quite excited to see it come together. PS. I'm in Brisbane. Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 16Mar 21, 2011 11:59 am Hi, We are walking the minefield at the moment looking for a reputable fibreglass pool installer in Perth, we have been in touch with Aquatechnics, Freedom and Saphire pools. all have their strengths and weekness at the sales point but we have no idea what the install will be like. Has anyone got any feedback to help us make our decission more informed? we feel we are throwing ourselves to the wolves at the moment so your help would be a much appreciated. many thanks to you all. Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 17Mar 21, 2011 2:16 pm As has previously be mentioned, please do a search on Leisure Pools on the Not Good Enough website before you make your decision. I had my pool installed by Leisure Pools and the entire process (post signing of the contract) was a nightmare. Terrible service from both their franchise builder and Leisure and variations galore to the contract price. I had 6 quotes for my pool - Leisure's price was i the middle but i went with them as their product and service seemed superior. Big Mistake. By the end of the job with the additional variations (which we still dispute) the pool was the most expensive of the 6 quoted. Re: Quote for fibreglass Swimming Pool 18Mar 21, 2011 2:42 pm Hi Neck, Thanks for taking the time to reply. Can you please explain further what you mean by "variations galore to the contract price". What kind of things were added or changed to the initial quote? I guess from my perspective it would be good to know what things I should be keeping an eye on. I did read a post on Not Good Enough by David Pain, a director from Leisure Pools. He seems like he is trying to rid the "bad fruit" and hopefully that shows in their future installations. I spoke with half a dozen people before signing my contract (all of whom had built a pool through Leisure Pools), and all of them had nothing but praise for the company. Seems like you were definitely one of the unlucky ones. May I ask what pool you chose and now that the debacle is all finished, are you happy with the final product? (if you forget about the issues, pricing and customer service). Also, what Leisure Pools centre did you go with. I'm going through Yatala (Brisbane/Gold Coast). The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place. The agents weren't happy… 2 4254 hey there! π so, itβs kinda common for standard drawer depths to be around 500mm since most cabinets use this size to fit the usual runners… 3 20916 |
