Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Jan 20, 2011 7:19 am Hi Guys I am trying to get a water feature, “L” shape (7m (L), 1m(W) and 30cm Deep), more likely a swimming pool. This includes 2 levels, water pump and importantly there will be a glass in one side. I tried small guys and they do not want to do it. I tried big buys who builds pools, they do not want to do it. I am in Berwick, Melbourne. Any contacts would be appreciated. Re: Water Feature more likely a Pool 2Jan 20, 2011 10:12 am You may want to try a landscaper? A "pool" of that size will need a building permit and safety fencing in Australia as well. Just letting you know. Re: Water Feature more likely a Pool 3Jan 20, 2011 11:13 am The thing you are looking for is natural pools. They have no need for chlorine or salt. They self clean through natural filtration on the side or nearby. http://www.mynaturalpool.com.au/ If you don't want an actual swimming pool but a 'body of water deep enough to relax in' you can build a small 'stream' setting no deeper than 1.5 meters. Use fish tank methods to clean it. You can actually stock it with native fish and use the water to feed a vertical wall or lined garden. This needs nutrient management through the Ammonia and Nitrogen cycle. The plants will purify the water nicely. It needs to be 10cm deep at least of granite/zeolite but in that there will be the right bacteria to grow and convert the nitrates into available forms for the plants to use. We use pygmy perch in the ponds and water features. hmmm id assume youll get hit with the "natural product therefore variation in colour etc" excuse. How bad are we talking?
