Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Nov 25, 2010 3:30 pm Hi all - We are going to put in a pool in our new build and was hoping for some tips from anyone who has recently done it in the Perth market. So far my Quotes are sitting just below $30k... including the 'free' stuff. Pool pumps, colour upgrade, blah blah blah. I know it is just built into the price, why do they try and trick you? So we can fit a 7.5 x3.5 rectangle pool and the proce above includes basic fencing and pavers.... knowing me I'll upgrade to glass fence and limestone. So what's the tips? Who's the best company?? Who the dodgiest? Should I go small company or national? I have chosen to put in a fibreglass mainly because I like the colours you can pick... and something to do with no scratched knees??? Who cares - it's bloody hot and I want it in now. There was some good information I picked up in the 'Outdoor Living' section of this forum. Maybe do a search and you'll come across this thread. One word of advice. Really do your research. Don't trust that the price you are given by some of the pool companies will be the final price you pay in the end. There are a number of pool companies in Perth belonging to the same group. We decided against any of these companies due to various reasons. We went to Leisure Pools in Redcliffe instead and didn't look back. They are not the cheapest, however I am fairly confident that the price we were quoted is very close to the price we will pay. The selling point for us was their installation process. They actually reinforce the pool with a poured concrete and steel reinforcement band around the pool - something that the other companies don't do. This sures up the foundations and we have been assured that there will be reduced shifting of the ground ensuring paving etc around the pool will not sink. The other difference is the pool equipment they install ie filter etc are superior brands. They have been an absolute pleasure to deal with. The people you deal with at Leisure Pools are staff - from the sales guys through to the guys that install the pool. They don't use contractors. Leisure Pools in Redcliffe is a family owned business, backed by a National Company. We're installing their Elegance 9m x 4m pool. I'm sure they've got smaller designs available. They've got an extensive brochure, so maybe give their office a call and ask them to mail one out to you. Our excavation is due to begin on Tues 7th Dec with the pool going in on 8th Dec. If I can be of any further assistance, don't hesitate to contact me. I did find that the prices can vary quite a bit and ours was in the end a good deal, over 7k cheaper than another company for the same product. Look around a lot and don't be scared to ask them for discount and extras. Pm me if you want all the specifics. Ours is going in next week. Re: Buying a Pool Tips Wanted! 4Nov 26, 2010 12:11 am Hi Sheznay We put in a pool 2 years ago and went with Leisure Pools. I can only confirm what jbarry said, they were fantastic and would recommend them to anyone. The whole process was a joy. We too put in the Elegance 9 x 4 and love it. Great service and a good quality product - you get what you pay for. All the best! Re: Buying a Pool Tips Wanted! 5Nov 26, 2010 12:37 am thanks guys! great to know.... more pool shopping on hot days... how hard! They're open both Saturdays and Sundays - sorry you would need to look up the opening times. If you've got kids, get them to take their bathers and towel with them. They are more than happy for you guys to "test drive" their product. Our DD did and I'm sure she had a go in every pool they had on display. We went with their water feature too which doubles as storage for your pool equipment. Happy shopping. We visited the SPASA expo in March as well as Ideal and MBA Home Shows for information and quotes so we were able to compare all pool companies. We also looked at concrete as friends had one and had a great experience. In the end, we chose Sapphire Pools who had a great smaller-sized pool that fits perfectly in our backyard, the Sovereign which is 2.7m x 5m (and came in just under 20K including everything – all equipment, a pool colour guard colour which will never fade , blanket, header paving, & installation of spa jets on the bench seat!). Yes, we knew they were actually from a larger company, but they are all still West-Australian made and manufactured (their facility is in Welshpool and this is where every pool comes out of) and they have Product Certification and are made to Australian Standards which was a huge tick for us. So many pool companies in WA claim they are built to Australian Standards but we actually saw their certifications, whereas another company said they “surpass” these standards, without actually having the certification – I don’t know how that works?? The other positive thing about them was that their pools don’t have to travel far to get to your house, where other companies that manufacture over east have to stack their pools to transport them - if you go with one of these companies beware getting a large pool because they get stacked at the bottom!!! In regard to reinforcing, Sheznay I don’t want you to go shopping for your pool without knowing this, but Sapphire’s (and Buccaneer/Aquatechnics) fibreglass pools all have full-sized ribbing and full-sized/thicker structural edge beams which means when it comes to installing, they don't need to add concrete and steel under the edgebeams to make the pool stronger as all the pools are made with reinforced steps and edgebeams so Sapphire didn't have to go in and reinforce after installation (Hubby understood this part better than me!). Our pool also came with a lifetime warranty for the structure and pool colour -this was the other big tick for us! I hope this helps, we are so happy with our Sapphire pool and absolutely stoked its summer now! Bec Building in Northern Coastal suburbs - nearly finished! Just be careful with building stability during construction, that is when the structure may be weakened, refer to your engineering drawings for stability methodology. 1 7209 Thank you so much. This has been very helpful. We definitely wish to settle and get these people out of our life. They are trying to charge us interest on late… 7 14187 Yeah I don't know why I came to a forum. Place is full of wierdos/pedos thought internet may help but I suppose I'll try my luck with someone in person. Cheers. I tried… 0 6391 |
