Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Sep 22, 2010 8:53 pm We are looking to have a pool built and would like to know what a rough idea of costs if anyone else has built in Melbourne? We are looking at roughly a 7m x 4m rectangular shape. Any info would be great. I would also like recommendations if anyone has any. Re: Building a Pool 2Sep 22, 2010 9:01 pm We have just completed a 5x4m concrete in ground pool in Melb SE suburbs. Cost of pool $35K, paving surround and glass fence $15K. We used PJ Pools and would use different company if we were to install another pool. Re: Building a Pool 3Sep 23, 2010 7:13 pm There are many pool builders, it will just come down to your budget. visit http://www.spasavic.com.au/member-list. We have just signed with Seaspray pools @45K for 8 x 4 concrete in ground 3 x LED lights Beach area 3 x steps Swim ledge (8m) Full solar, filtration and pumps. It's a mid range quote, had the same spec quoted at $75K with another company (premium/high end). Diffilcut to see where the higher costs are given the materials are all the same. I would only engage one of the high end co's if you are doing something a bit more special, i.e wet edge, glass walls or similar. Hope this helps Re: Building a Pool 6Nov 30, 2010 5:33 pm Tips- If they quote for paving/coping, make sure this cost includes the cutting of the pavers as this can cost $1.50 per cut x 2 cuts per paver, it adds up very quickly and they sometimes spring this on you at the last minute. Solar heating- If you install solar heating accept no less then 100% coverage, this means if the surface area of the pool is 40sqmts the solar matting should also be this area. Builders- Stay well clear of the big blue elephant, I could type for hours on this company. Con job- If you are not at home when the hole is being excavated and you get a phone call saying "g'day love we have struck rock and it's gunna cost an extra 5k to dig the hole out" I'd suggest you say, no worries I'll home in 10mins to check it out. Eyes wide open- Get the company to itemise their quotation, fencing, landscaping, paving, coping etc, if they refuse to itemise it, move on. This keeps them honest and you can always source other quotes from fencing, paving mobs etc to compare. Re: Building a Pool 7Dec 09, 2010 10:31 am Will never put an inground concrete pool in again.......we have had more issues/problems than we ever did building our house and 7 months later they are still continuing. Where did good old fashioned quality and service go?????? Very poor considering the tens of thousands of dollars spent! Good Luck everyone. What a joy to simply go to that site, and chat with a real person who knows about pools! When there was a problem after reinstalling the fixed unit, during the Christmas holidays, I was told to contact the technician direct, and given his number, to solve the problem quickly. Rachael, the Marketing/Services Manager, Anthony the technician were on holiday, yet stayed in touch constantly to help me solve my problems. This is an amazing company, with incredible people, truly committed to helping the customer. I've never had better service, from any company, for any product. For me, service is the key to choosing a company for pool equipment and products, and Pool Werx's service is absolutely perfect. BTW, for anyone that hasn't switched their pool over to a salt chlorinator, you are really missing out. Before using the chlorinator, I had to vacuum my pool at least once a week, with algae build up, and the chlorine irritated our eyes and dried out our hair . Now we only have to vacuum once a month, and the chlorine in the very mildly tasting salt water is undetectable to my senses of smell and taste, doesn't bother our eyes. Saltwater pools are the best! notremaison Seems like they taken on every job they can get around summer and have no intention of finishing. Google, google then google some more about the companies.
