Browse Forums Pools & Spas Re: How loud are new pool pumps 11May 27, 2010 7:34 pm We installed a new intelliflo pump for the same reason. We wanted to use the pump during off peak times, but noise was restricting us to do so. Off peak being around 2am till 6am. The intelliflo is a variable speed, which means we can operate it at more efficient and very quiet speeds (currently 2000rpm turns over the pool in several hours). The big upside compared to the old pump is power savings. The old waterco pump consumed a whooping 2.5kw. The new pentair, at 2000rpm is only 500W and literally whisper quiet. We now operate at off peak times with no complaints. The only draw back, is that they are around $1000 US each, but at this rate will pay for itself in a year or so. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=29835 steve Ain't that the truth!
