Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Jan 27, 2010 12:11 pm Hi All We are currently investigating Pool companies in Perth and would like to know your experience with any of the majors ie Aqua Technics, Sapphire Pools, Freedom Pools, Leisure Pools etc. We are hoping to be able to install a Fibreglass but may opt for concrete if space becomes an issue. Any details you could include such as price, inclusions, good/bad points would be appreciated. Thanks jbarry My build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=25713 13th Oct - Offer on block 4th Dec - Settlement of block scheduled (delayed due to titles) 22nd Feb - Titles Issued 17th Mar - Land Settlement 17th Mar - Pre-start meeting Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 2Jan 27, 2010 7:27 pm Hi JBarry We have had two fibreglass pools put in. Guardian Pools were really good. Pool was in before the time they gave us. And backfilled really well and cleaned up. Also, Guardian still seem cheaper then the others as we thought we may be able to fit in one of the f/g pools this time but couldnt. Freedom Pools wasnt happy with them at all. Left big mess and didnt back fill properly. Sapphire pools couldnt be bothered turning up on the time agreed so they didnt even get a chance to quote. We are putting in a concrete pool hopefully soon. Going through the quote process. P & B pools so far have been really great. Another H1 member may be using them as well. Caz Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 3Feb 11, 2010 6:53 pm I would not be going with any of the bigger known fibreglass pool companies, which are nearly almost owned by the same company, they just have different trading names. We had a terrible experience with one of the bigger known companies last year. It was devastating to say the least..... I had to go with them at the time as budget did not expand enough for concrete and they were the only company selling fibreglass pools less than 3m wide at the time (this is a very different situation now - bugger!) I have in my previous home put in a refurbished 2nd hand pool from Palm City Pools. They were fantastic, the pool is exactly like new, if not better as it is re-fibreglassed and totally repainted, so making the shell stronger. They are much cheaper than new too, so that's always a good point. The only downside is that you are limited to what shape and size according to what stock is available, though this was not a problem when we had one installed. The company is also small enough that they remember who you are and what your name is, and you deal direct with the owner. They install around 3 pools a week, where the other bigger company we used installed around 30 pools, and believe me, we felt like nothing short of just a number. They were woeful. I wish I could have put in a 2nd hand one, would have saved a hell of a lot of heartache, infact a total of 7 months heartache.... Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 4Feb 17, 2010 1:29 pm I was in Guardian Pools yesterday and have just ordered our pool from them. Their prices seem very competitive and if you are interested they have a couple of ex display pools for sale. They also have a $2000 off each new pool promotion too. I liked the fact you got an all up price ... one company I had spoke to earlier had given me his price ... then all the extras .. it went from $20k to $26 very quickly. We ended up ordering an ex stock pool that was just what I was after. Their service seemed very professional. I am meeting a rep on site tomorrow to discuss pool positioning (I had given him a copy of our site plans). Kids are so excited .. I can't believe it myself we are actually going to have a pool !! Any details you could include such as price, inclusions, good/bad points would be appreciated. Thanks I have just finished (and have now signed up) getting quotations on a concrete pool. Our pool was 8m x 4.5m - geometric, but the placing off the pool was the issue - hence concrete was the go. Pool placement is butted right up against my DH's shed - so structurally we needed deeper foundations to support that side of the shed wall (our water feature is going there). The basic pool price was 28,000.00. It included; ~ A 15 year structural warranty ~ Engineer drawings and all council submission fees. ~Sand filter & Pump ~2 x LED lights ~Pool Blanket and Roller ~Gas fittings and heater pipes for pool ~Soakwells if needed ~Plaster Colour ~Chlorinator ~Pool overflow & skimmer box ~Delta UV - Completely disinfects and inactivates bacteria, viruses, algae and protozoa from your pool water by the use of ultraviolet light. ~Filter enclosure (so its not out in the open and hidden from view) ~Three walk in steps ~Additional 8m ledge (it will be a seat under the waterfall off shed wall) so kiddies can sit on. ~All the pipes and plumbing for waterfall feature. ~Backfill ~An independent 16 amp connection back to the main board to a maximum of 40m run including a circuit breaker and four GPO's. ~Chemical testing kit. ~All tread tiles on steps and ledges ~$55psqm of mosiac tiles (we wanted an extra course around the pool) ~One single row of reconstituted limestone bullnose headers or similar 400mm by 270mm by 40mm on the flat with cream mortar joints for the header course. ~It did NOT include any tip fees or cartage - however, anything in a 10km radius is not charged. We also made arrangements to keep the soil to the side for future landscaping. ~As our pool is going in first we also had the option of them supplying the scaffolding to go over the pool when home construction begins, however because my DH is in the trade it was cheaper (free for us) to supply that ourselves. Our extras were; ~ Gas Heater $3,900 ~Dolphine Easy Kleen Robotic Cleaner (no hoses) 3 hour cleaning cycle once a week. $1000 ~ Frameless self cleaning glass fencing with stainless steel fittings (included 2 gates) - just under $5k We went with Instyle Pools. Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 6Feb 17, 2010 2:32 pm Sounds very good Did they give you a timeline for construction mckelvie? TIA Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 7Feb 17, 2010 2:40 pm Hi Onc, Its estimated up to 14 days for the concrete shell of the pool (I am assuming because of curing?) then we cover the pool up with the scaffolding and they will come back near the completion of home build to do the rest of the work. Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 8Feb 21, 2010 11:08 am Michelle From Perth I would not be going with any of the bigger known fibreglass pool companies, which are nearly almost owned by the same company, they just have different trading names. We had a terrible experience with one of the bigger known companies last year. It was devastating to say the least..... Hi Michelle Thanks so much for your post and your pm. We have decided not to go with our original quote (1 of 2) and instead went yesterday to the Leisure Pools display centre. We spent around an hour and a half with one of the sales guys there who was absolutely fantastic. We went right through the install process and wow these guys do things way differently to any of those other companies you mentioned. They back fill with a sand/cement mix and then pour a concrete band with steel reinforcing. The install takes 2 weeks in total (an extra week if you have a water feature). They don't use contractors - they are all staff that do the installs. I just got such a good feeling from this company - something just didn't gel with my husband and I from the other 2 we spoke with. They invited my daughter to test drive the pools yesterday which she did along with a couple of other kids that were there which was neat. We have gone with a 4.4m x 9m Elegance with a Cascade water feature. The pool equipment fits nicely behind the water feature and is weather proof. Inclusive of pool pump/filter, start up kit, manual cleaning kit, automatic pool cleaner, 6 spa jets, 2 x LED lights, plumbing for solar heating (no heating just yet) - quote came in at $33,000. Yes a little more expensive than the others, but apart from a possible hard digging charge, we are not going to be up for the extra unknowns which I believe we would have had with the other companies. We do have to add paving and pool fencing on top of this, but we knew that anyway. So thanks again - we feel really happy about our decision. Sydney is obviously more expensive - fully tiled, solar heated 8x4 pool including coping is about $55k plus council fees plus electricals. And we don't have a resources boom. BTW - how much glass in your fence - looks very cheap. Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 13May 04, 2010 9:37 pm Jbarry, I'll be interested to hear how you get on with Leisure Pools. The Elegance is the one I love too, just got the brochure in the post today When are you planning installation? I'm planning late this year or perhaps early 2011. Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 14Jun 02, 2010 4:55 pm Hi All, We are about to start building and Leisure pools are booked to give us a firm quote, we're in Melb and the service/equiptment levels and pricing sound very similar. I'll let you know how we go. Building at Sierra Estate. Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 15Jun 21, 2010 10:11 pm Have also signed up with Guardian, jury out till finished -lol, but seemed the most professional. Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 18Jul 30, 2010 7:59 pm PoolBeetle Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here Few years ago my brother contracted Leisure pools to build his dream swimming pool. So far, the swimming pool is still in good condition. However, it cost him almost $9,000! What Happened, did he have problems with it? We've just signed up for one of their Elegance pools, just need our house to be completed so we can install and enjoy it!!! Building at Sierra Estate. Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 19Sep 23, 2010 2:38 pm Hi everyone. Just wondering how everyone got on with their pool installs and post experiences? I am at a stage where I am considering having a pool put in and would definitely prefer someone highly recommended. I am in Perth. Thanks in advance! Re: Reputable Pool Companies in Perth 20Sep 24, 2010 3:59 pm We went with InStyle Pools for a concrete pool - signed and paid the deposit 14/11/2008 - final handover Jan 2010. We found them very expensive and very poor quality work. I eventually paid for another contractor to come in and relay their paving. Initially both the pool and the water feature leaked. I would strongly recommend people to stay away from them. It is in lake macquarie area and dimensions are width 14 m and depth 8 m and the slope is 1/5 going down from the road. 1 7090 Hi everyone, Looking for some advise.
