Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Sep 24, 2009 2:30 pm Just wanting to know how much people paid for their inground pool with the fencing? I was thinking to budget an extra $25k or so on top of the house but I am starting to think I should probably double it. I would prefer a concrete one but also interested in fibregalss.. Thanks Re: How much for a pool? 2Sep 24, 2009 2:43 pm My quotes for a 8 x 4 rectangular pool are coming in at mid $30's. That doesn't include paving or fencing. I would think that a $35k budget just for the pool would be reasonable (for an average size 8 x 4 pool). I don't think there is a lot of difference between concrete and fibreglass price wise. Add another $10k or so for the fence and paving (and that depends on what fence and paving you install) Blog is now up - http://www.jbdave.blogspot.com/ Re: How much for a pool? 3Sep 24, 2009 3:33 pm PM House-to-be: she got a great deal on her pool with some smart shopping, and with the savings was able to pay for frameless glass fencing and other landscaping stuff. If you trawl through the Mernda Villages thread in the General Discussion forum, I think you'll find a photo or two of the pool construction in progress. Re: How much for a pool? 4Sep 24, 2009 10:38 pm I have been thinking about one as well and seen these blue haven advert for $20K.. http://www.bluehaven.com.au/files/09032 ... hot_sm.pdf Is it missing something??? Re: How much for a pool? 5Sep 24, 2009 10:44 pm Not sure that it is missing anything, but I don't particularly like those whole "interest free period" deals personally. WE were due to pay ~$24K for our pool late last year, but we bought it during a promotional period where you could win your pool free (or at least up to $20K). On the day they install it, some woman came bounding around our front fence with one of those massive cheques, saying that we were the winners!!!!!! YAY!!!! So you can pick them up for about $4K.....if you are a lucky bugger like me Re: How much for a pool? 6Sep 24, 2009 10:51 pm Thanks cmooring or should I say congratulations, it is good to know people actually do win these competitions.. I agree as well - there is normally catches or fees with these interest free periods I am glad to know as well that you can get a pool for mid $20.. Did that include a fence?? Re: How much for a pool? 7Sep 24, 2009 11:00 pm Yep I am a smart shopper Thanks Kek. I'm still smiling over my new couch purchase We bought a Conquest Pool (made in Shepparton) called The Franklin 10m x 4.1m from Summerset Pools and Spas via ebay. We bought the pool as a kit which included everything apart from the pvc pipes. They gave us the names/numbers of their installers and I rang one and he agreed to do the job. Pool was delivered in January and installed in April. Pool has a 25 year warranty. When I started to look at fibreglass pools early last year all our quotes come in between $42,000 - $45,000 - just for the pool! We wanted a big pool as we have the space ( it runs down the side of the house) but we weren't prepared to pay $45k for it. I am a thrifty shopper We've spent - $35k on everything, pool, fencing, solar, concrete, paving etc etc Happy at Home Re: How much for a pool? 8Sep 24, 2009 11:15 pm jimmyd I have been thinking about one as well and seen these blue haven advert for $20K.. http://www.bluehaven.com.au/files/09032 ... hot_sm.pdf Is it missing something??? Yeah unfortunately Blue Haven are well known for their "$19,990" pool deals. These normally escalate to well over $30k by the end of the build. The thing about going through someone reputable is that they'll at least spell everything out to you up front so you don't get a nasty surprise later on. Just like H3nley and S!monds were the builders I knew never to build with since I was a kid, Blue Haven was the pool builder I knew never to go with. Word of mouth is a very strong thing. That being said, there are actually one or two rare extremely good Blue Haven franchisees out there, I've been told the one around Gosford is actually quite good and that's by competing pool builder! edit: and if you're going concrete, the main person we got a quote off said that the only difference in price between a 7x3 and an 8x4 is about 15 mins excavator hire/labour and a little bit of concrete, so only a couple of hundred dollars. 9x4 is $1-2k more expensive due to needing more steel. This will include electricals, pumps filters and jetvac. Its an L shaped pool the main part being 8 x 4 m. Things that add cost are Rock drilling and having the pool out of the ground at one end, labour for formwork adds cost. Dan Re: How much for a pool? 10Sep 24, 2009 11:30 pm Hi, We are spending approx $60k on our pool - and that does not even include paving or fencing! However, it a 9x4m concrete ingound. Top of the range pump, filter, solar heating, water feature, LED lighting, beadcrete interior etc. We are budgeting approx extra $10k for fencing, $10k for paving and $5k for retaining wall. So an $85k pool in the end I got a lot of quotes. And I think around $40k would get you a fairly decent 8x4m pool. It is just all the extras that add up... Re: How much for a pool? 12Sep 25, 2009 8:41 am House-to-be, thank you very much for the break down of cost - that helps a lot... I've also seen those pools on ebay and was wondering about them. $32k for the pool, installation, fencing, pavers and concreting seems like a good deal. I'd probably want to do a salt water pool as my eldest doesnt seem to react to well to chlorine.. Can I ask how long it took them to install the actual pool - was it a couple of days? stevep, not sure about blue haven myself - but I did appreciate those Peter Sterling commericals. Thanks for the tip on the 8*4 pool as well. Seems like sky is the limit for pool prices. Re: How much for a pool? 13Sep 26, 2009 12:45 pm No probs Jimmyd, glad it helped. We are pretty happy to have come in under our budget ($35k) for everything. Just goes to show how much profit the Companies make and what you can do if you have the time to shop around Our water was trucked up from Phillip Island as we were told there were only three place in Victoria where water can be used for Pools. It was spring water, lovely and clear (and the concreters came) Phillip Island, Kinglake (which is out of service at the moment due to the bushfires earlier in the year) and another place which I can't remember.....Guy had a 16,000L truck and cost was $400 per load. He didn't think the pool would take the final full load so only charged us $200 but the pool ended up taking 14,000 out of the 16,000 litres, we still only paid $200 A friend back in our old suburb spent $100,000 last year on a fibreglass (8x4) pool, landscaping, paving, fencing and a path around the perimeter of the house. It looks nice but I can't see $100k worth All we need now is for some warm weather! Happy at Home Re: How much for a pool? 14Sep 26, 2009 2:06 pm House-To-Be All we need now is for some warm weather! We are putting in a 8 x 4.4m fibreglass pool ready to swim for just under $30k. This also includes water feature with 600mm sheer descent waterfall, 4 x spa jets in the seating area, Astral Hurlcon Viron 300 energy efficient pump, Hurlcon Salt Chlorinator, Alum pool fencing, 400x400 Himalayan sandstone coping, pipework for future heating provision, LED pool light etc etc. Were also looking at concrete, but we were happy with the shape of the f/g and the finish of it. Just hoping thats its ready for Xmas now.
