Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Apr 20, 2007 5:17 pm G'Day all,
My pool/spa is of pebblecrete design and I'm pretty sure it has a leak in it as the water is dropping at quite a signficant rate, even with the pump off. I believe I know where roughly it is leaking from (back out one of the jets pipework) but I'm not too sure how the plumbing is run in the ground. The pipework does make a 90 degree turn just back from the jet and goes straight up, but then would it make another 90 degree turn and come out of the concrete into the soil outside the pool or would it be concreted into the side of the pool and follow it around? I don't want to go digging as yet because it is paved right around the pool. Am I safe in assuming that the pipework should exit the concrete just below the surface of the ground? I lifted 2 bricks near that jet and there was a section with felt damp but is not obvious. Any help would be appreciated. Bazz in the NT Re: Pool Plumbing and leak finding 2Apr 26, 2007 10:19 am Well the pool is still dropping. It's about half empty now. In a way I hope it drops below the spa jets which just leaves the one deep end jet that it could be leaking from. Worst case is it keeps dropping and it's in the bottom of the pool
Haven't started digging or anything cause don't know where its going! Re: Pool Plumbing and leak finding 4Apr 26, 2007 12:01 pm Bazz,
How fast is it dropping? Have you considered blocking off the jet? This should give you an idea of which one and stop the leak for now. 3xb Re: Pool Plumbing and leak finding 5Apr 26, 2007 2:19 pm 3timesbuilda Bazz, How fast is it dropping? I would have to guess that it drops just under one of those tile heights in 24 hours. I did think about blocking the jets but the other end of the pool has a jet which is lower than these so was going to wait for it to drop and see what happened. Talking to another friend up here who has a pool and they have had to fill theirs every day. Had someone come out and inspect it and no leaks found. Is it possible that there is that much evaporation from it? I have had the house for a couple of years now and it has never been this bad for level drop. Normally about 1 tile a week, not a day. Here's a pic of the other jet... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Pool Plumbing and leak finding 6Apr 26, 2007 7:38 pm Well I'll be damned. I have now spoken to 4 different pool owners around the area that I know and their pools are evaporating at the same rate. The dry season must be here and sucking it up!!! I have never seen it this bad before.
Note to self: Buy a cover and soon! Lucky we don't have water restrictions. Thanks to all who read the thread. Re: Pool Plumbing and leak finding 7Sep 29, 2011 8:58 pm Is it possible to have a faulty hydro valve causing a leak? A plumber came out and has decided that the above valve is stuck and letting water leak out??? Im not sure if he's actually gotten the big picture. Its been pouring down (and will be for the next few days) and on top of that my partner left the hose running a week ago and the whole side of the house and under the house was wet. Anyway i can check if the pool is truly leaking from the above problem? We only asked him out to quote on new downpiping...Now were getting a quote for 8k to fix the pool... If you make sure all taps inside and out are turned off, what does the water meter show if you leave it for a while. 2 20235 Hi all, I am hoping someone has some ideas as to what is causing my bathroom leak. The leaking appears to mainly happen when we turn the sink basins on. It takes a while… 0 5084 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Are you doing this with a building permit?
