Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Mar 19, 2009 4:41 pm Hi ,
Wondering if anyone knows approximate prices for pool?? None of the pools websites give prices We are looking for something about 4 mtr wide and 7 - 9 meters long.Probably concrete. We live in qld and use to have a Fibreglass pool that got so hot in summer we couldnt even swim in it anymore. So looking for concrete!! Not sure if that would fit We have from slab 10 meters to neighbouring fence. We havent allowed for extra piering in the slab so I assume it has to be at least 3 mt away from slab?? How close to fence can it be?? Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! Now tackling the HUGE task of the Garden- viewtopic.php?f=31&t=14782 Re: Swimming Pool ?? Will it fit?? 2Mar 19, 2009 5:07 pm No, they never give you prices - they want you to come in and fall in love with what you could have!!! Plus, if you want a custom built, they'll need to look at your requirements first.
Lucky you're in QLD - can't help you with exact prices, but I can tell you it's considerably cheaper there than in Vic. We looked at a LOT of pools when designing ours, and noticed the lower prices in Qld over & over - lucky you! Our pool is being dug tomorrow!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! We are also going for concrete, fully tiled, with a nice big spa (which we need here in Vic!!!!) Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Swimming Pool ?? JohnandTarin- Ive had a look at the Narellan pools site and they have some great pools!! I was worried they would be really expensive. 30grand seems like a good price for that size with the rest included also. Is your pool going to be close to your fence or do you have plenty of room?? Will it fit?? 5Mar 23, 2009 2:47 pm Melly, Pools can be built right on the fence line, well within a foot of it...building wise it is possible, BUT it all has to do with your own local Council regulations, some allow it some don't. If I was you I would call your council to find out what the regulations are. Then you will have an idea of what size pool you can drool over Unlike fiberglass, concrete pools can be built to fit any size. For ease of cleaning the pool (brushing the sides) I would recommend at least a 30cm of paving dividing the pool edge and the wall. Pool cleaners eg, Kreepy's do clean the walls but sometimes extra brushing is needed also. Our pool will be 900 off our fence and about 6-7 meters from the house we wanted it as a wow factor our of our stacker door John, Tarin and the Kids Built and moving in to the Regent Grande with Masterton homes http://thebrownsaremovingtothecountry.blogspot.com Re: Swimming Pool ?? Will it fit?? 7Mar 24, 2009 7:30 am We're not in Qld but I can confirm that $30k seems like the right price when compared to a quote we received for the whole works. Our quote was for installation inlcluding 400mm coping tiles, lights, 30cm band of tiling going around the top, salt chlorinator, cartridge filter, upgraded fine pebblecrete, etc. What our pool builder told us is that a 3x7, 3x8, 4x9 pool should all be within a few hundred dollars of eachother as they require the same amount of steel, just slightly more concrete and an extra 15 mins or so labour for the excavator. If anyone charges thousands difference in those size ranges they're ripping you off. Our council regulations state that the water must be 1.5m from the fence and I think 1.5m from slab as well so definitly check your local council because everyone seems to be very different. Pretty sure ours also says that if you use a boundary fence as one of your pool fences, the slats have to be on your side otherwise you can't use it (for a timber fence, of course). Will it fit?? 9Mar 24, 2009 9:28 am JohnAndTarin Make sure when you have company's come out that you ask if the DA is included in the price.. as alot of them don't include it and make sure you check whether you actually need a DA. in most new estates you'll be able to apply for a complying development certificate for a pool instead of a DA. I think a few of the boxes to tick for that are: pool <40,000 litres, boundary fencing 1.5m from waterline, no trees to be removed. the quotes i received for a pool included the CDC costs in it. one thing you really have to look at is what the builder writes down for soil removal. even in a small pool there is about 100 tonne of soil and normally they say "included - removal of fill to a site within 5km of the customer's choosing" but in reality you'd be hard pressed to find somewhere for the fill within 5km so you'll be up for $3k+ extra for fill removal. Will it fit?? 10Mar 24, 2009 4:40 pm Hi Guys, Thanks for your replies. I think I will definately have to check with the council what the requirements are. The having the fence railings on my side is something to consider - thanks for that!! Our fence isnt built yet but I didnt really want the "*******" side of the fence. I might have to do one of the good neighbour fences that dont have the horizonal pailings. That way little feet and hands cant climb over The builder said we would need 3mtr from the house as we didnt allow for extra piering for a pool. The closer we could go to the boundary fence the better!!! HMMMM 5 km from the house for the soil huh???? didnt factor that in . Were in a new estate I wonder if anyone in there would want some fill. Id assume so, some of the blocks have about a 7mtr fall. Im sure they would need some OK OFF TO THE COUNCIL I GO!! Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! Our pool builder had told us that that would be extra, and he estimated 15/16 truck loads, so we had factored that in. Luckily the place they dump it at isn't too far away! Another thing is the cost of water! While it used to be free, it isn't now - it has to be trucled in - and paid for! We are looking at about $2K, but that's for a big pool - approx 52sqm, I think. Yeah Ill head up to the other part of the estate and see if some people need it. I always see signs around for CLEAN FILL WANTED. But when you want to give it away. they all seem to disappear. Will it fit?? 15Mar 25, 2009 9:36 am When we were going to build a pool (not any more) we were going to approach the developer and ask if they wanted the fill seeing as though it was their control fill in the first place There's plenty of the estate left to build and I'm sure they'll be doing control fill throughout to make sure everyone is well above the creek floodline Almost forgot, get the license number of all the pool builders you approach. You can check your state's pool and spa association or master builders (depending on their memberships) to see what action as been brought against them.
