Hi guys,
I decided to also do a dedicated pool build thread here as well as chronical it in my house build thread here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73412&start=0
I'm happy to answer any questions along the way and plan to share my experiences each step
We are building a 27 lineal meter or essentially 8x5 concrete pool.
We built our house last year and always intended to build a pool as soon as we had handover, unfortunately due to the size of the concrete driveway (383m2) we had to use the pool money.
Fast forward a year and we were back on track to get the pool done.
We were basically looking at a 8m long (to match our alfresco length) by 4m wide concrete pool.
But we also wanted a bench for our youngest to play on for a couple of years until she is big enough to venture off.
Originally we were looking at a 4m long by 0.5m ledge, but this would then make the pool effectively 3.5m wide of swimming area.
We then decided to add the 0.5 as an addition to effectively make the pool 4.5m wide with a 4m wide swimming area and 0.5m ledge 4 meters long so a total size of 8x4.5.
We then decided that 0.5m really wasn't wide enough so we changed this to 1m wide so the ledge became 1m x 4m in size. This effectively made a 8x5 sized pool.
We also decided to add a water feature or a waterfall type feature which is a 1.2m x 2.0 m block wall with a 1200mm water blade. This will be clad in the same stone as the coping.
Due to the water fall we felt it would be good to have a small bench for the kids (and adults) to sit on and have the waterfall cascade over. So we also then added a 2m long by 0.5m wide bench in front of the waterfall.
This has brought the total of the pool to 27 lineal meters.
The pool will be concrete shell, with a 1mm black and white pebble interior. The coping will be an as yet undecided stone (leaning towards a marble type). We will then concrete the surround and tile with 600x600 tiles which will continue down the entry stairs and onto alfresco.
Fences will be frameless glass across the front and black aluminium with wood posts for the sides and rear.
