Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks Re: help needed - splashback colour 43Aug 28, 2008 5:50 pm Hi guys, Im back from Bunnings with MORE samples!. This time I picked up a colour made by Taubmans called "Silver Magic". I only picked up a colour card as I have spent that much money already on paint samples ( when did they get so dear?!) Wondering if anybody knows this colour and if it is actually a metallic or not?. Also Dan if your out there, this one more time .
thanks everyone for putting up with me, just as well Im not building a house! Re: help needed - splashback colour 44Aug 28, 2008 7:39 pm What about simple gloss off white brickwork tiles 300*100mm. Dateless and would suit the style of kitchen Re: help needed - splashback colour 45Aug 28, 2008 7:40 pm What about simple gloss off white brickwork tiles 300*100mm. Otherwise I like the dark charcoal colour Re: help needed - splashback colour 46Aug 28, 2008 10:28 pm I know what u mean about the brick style tiles but I am trying to get away from the country look. I know I have to live with my timber kitchen now as that was what was "in" fashion when we built the house over 7 years ago. But now Im trying to bring my kitchen into 2008. Think the tiles would take me back to the country era? Re: help needed - splashback colour 47Aug 28, 2008 10:33 pm How about doing stainless to bring your kitchen out of its era, and it will match in with your appliances? Re: help needed - splashback colour 48Aug 28, 2008 10:40 pm I have been told by a few friends that I should maybe go stainless. But doesnt it show every bit of anything? I have 2 kids and daily ( clean freak I admit) I am cleaning finger marks off my appliances. I know Michelle once said that she was over the stainless look, not sure why but would like to know her opinion. I feel as though I keep decorating at the end of a certain look or era, hence the wood kitchen and terracotta tiles on the floor( now thats another story!) If I do stainless am I coming into a nearly out of date look?
OHHHHHH the confusion! Re: help needed - splashback colour 49Aug 28, 2008 10:44 pm mudtrilogy What about simple gloss off white brickwork tiles 300*100mm. Dateless and would suit the style of kitchen Rachael this is what I'm having, only I'm not having them done as bricks but just 'stacked' one on top of the other - I think this is a much more modern look. My kitchen is definitely not country home style. If you go with the glass though, I like the last one Dan put up for you. Re: help needed - splashback colour 51Aug 28, 2008 11:07 pm Hi Paula,
what kind of kitchen do you have? Is it modern?. I agree with you about the charcoal kind of colour Dan did for me. I have a similar colour swatch that I picked up today......just waiting for him to post another photo with that colour. Unfortunately I think because Ive made decorating mistakes in the past Im a little scared to take any big risks out of my comfort zone. Im trying to fight the urge to go the same colour as my walls! cheers Rachael Re: help needed - splashback colour 52Aug 28, 2008 11:19 pm Hi Rachelle
Here is the realestate agent pic of my kitchen - I cant remember my photobucket password, and am too lazy to look for it now, so I got this from a previous thread. that is sooo lovely and just what I would do if I was to win the lottery! love it love it love it. I now understand why you are saying to keep it simple lines, it speaks for itself. cheers Re: help needed - splashback colour 54Aug 29, 2008 8:35 am My argument would be that you have a country kitchen and you should make it look as good as possible not neccessarily as modern as possible. It would be different if you were repainting/replacing the doors. But as you aren't I just wonder by putting in a glass splashback as you going to look a bit try hardy. Clean new brickwork tiles might just give it a look that suits the style of the kitchen. Remember there are people out there that still like country kitchens and they will come back in fashion one day. I say go for it. Paula Re: help needed - splashback colour 56Aug 29, 2008 12:52 pm Paula, lovely kitchen great use of simple colours & yet very modern not country from my view.
Rachael, you can see what I was saying about the white in paula's kitchen crisp clean & if paula was to change cupboard colour at later date she wouldn't ness have to change splash back colour. Not sure about silver ?? def/not S/S it would drive you insane with marks cooking splatters etc not a hope for a clean freak ??. Re: help needed - splashback colour 57Aug 29, 2008 1:52 pm joles If it's going to be clear glass I'd carry the exact wall colour thru as the splashback. The blackwood cupboards and black granite are such features in their own right, I'd really downplay the splashback and let them shine! Jo I do like the charcoals if you want a colour but I'm sticking with my original post above as the preference. I'm doing this in my kitchen. It's just a different look and if you are really scared of change and it dating, it's your best bet. Not that I'm scared or it dating but i'm having orange panels so want the splashback plain. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I saw this tile Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and loved it, very daring and I can only find a tiny jpeg. They have some wizz bang tiles for the brave. If I was much clever I would try to combine the images. taken from this site http://www.aqua-keramika.ru/atlas_intensity.shtml or http://www.volare.com.au/brands-site.as ... turerID=24 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 3624 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 1033 |
