Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks 1 Nov 17, 2014 8:37 am We've almost finished our mini kitchen makeover but I can't decide on a splashback. We were going to go with glass but now I want something with a bit of texture so I think I've decided on the classic subway tile. The big question is, do I go glossy or matte? The cupboards are glossy (which I already regret for the fingerprint factor) and the bench is laminex diamondgloss so it's quite shiny too. Because of the high gloss cupboards and bench I am leaning towards a matte tile. I really have no experience with this type of thing so I would love to hear suggestions and pros and cons to each. In these pictures we don't have the kicks up yet so ignore that, as well as the unpainted bit where we had to rip up another old tile. However you've so much gloss going on the matte is a nice counterpoint. I have a very similar kitchen (same colours and finish) and I have a glossy glass splash back but it has a texture BEHIND the glass and is painted behind with a sparkly paint so it emulates a matt finish although it has the glossy cleanability. I'm really happy with the result. Rebecca Jarrett-Dalton Property crazy expert mortgage broker, love building new homes!
