If only a base coat has been applied over joints there will be no problems. If a topping coat has been applied, this is very chalky and there can be poor adhesion. This topping coat should be sanded back to the base coat. However if large tiles are used they may bridge over the joint thus eliminating this problem. Great thanks for the tip, we have put a couple of sections of top coat on for sample paint colours will make sure we sand them back. Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering.
