Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks 1 Feb 27, 2014 9:34 am Hi all, I'm a little confused over splashback requirements... my new kitchen has a cutout just above the sink, so only ~200mm of wall is behind the sink (see pic below). Is it a Standards requirement to still have some sort of splashback material on that part of the wall? I'd prefer to have nothing, or something really minimal (after all, what's a single row of tiles going to accomplish?). Advice welcome... I think the main purpose for them though is to be easy to clean behind the bench. As the name would suggest to collect any splashes. I think if you had nothing there at all you would forever be cleaning that little bit of wall and would need to repaint it not too far in the future. If this bench is intended for no messy stuff then this may not be a problem. Also, it doesn't necessarily need to be tiles. It could be stainless steel or glass. Just a surface that is easy to clean repeatedly. I hope this helps. Cheers, Jenny. Need hints, tips and inspiration? Join me on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ournewhomecoach Who am I?
