Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks 1 Oct 26, 2013 1:58 pm We have just finished building an outdoor kitchen and are now looking at splashbacks, due to cost think we will go acrylic which is fine, but it's on an external brick wall. How do we fix the acrylic to the brick or do we need to put something underneath it to make the surface dead even? Re: Splashback for outdoor kitchen 2Nov 12, 2013 11:02 pm It would be best to line the brick wall with waterproof villaboard than attach the acrylic to that using liquid nails would be fine. Just remember that acrylic does not handle the heat and the sun will fade and also can get brittle. Re: Splashback for outdoor kitchen 3Nov 15, 2013 9:17 pm Well, making it even from the background will help the splashbacks to retain their positions for a long time. But are you sure about going with the acrylic ones? Since, my experience with them was a bad one. I then switched to stone ones which is good for both modern and rustic kitchen designs plus a whole variety of affordable kitchen cabinets support them. Check out the cabinets range here: http://www.thertastore.com They provided me with all the variety and help required. I still insist you on giving second thoughts to the acrylic ones. You can also try the mix and match ones for the purpose. They don't handle heat as well is glass and you might have issues with them if they are exposed to a lot of direct sunlight. I would fix them in place with large dobs of silicone on the wall. This will allow you to evenly bed it in. My personal vote goes to large tiles, stainless bonded onto FC sheeting, or glass. If there's not alot to be used, and you're fitting yourself - you might be suprised what a local glazier would charge for a supply only of glass splashbacks! Quality is like buying oats. If you want good, fresh oats, you'll pay a fair price. However,if you can be satisfied with the oats that have already been through the horse, that comes a little cheaper. Thanks for letting us know. The programmer will have a look at this later today. 2 6679 About a year ago, I embarked on a DIY project to construct an outdoor Pergola, which measures approximately 5.2 meters by 4.0… 0 29606 |
