glass splashbacks are as we know all the rage. But how much do we know of their durability & quality? How do they measure up, long term, to daily kitchen adtivities ? Does the painted back deteriorate over time? If the sealed edges b/t splashback & benchtop are not perfectly siliconed, what happens to the painted back? Paula Re: Durability of glass splashbacks 3May 01, 2008 5:00 pm We had ours at our last home for 7yrs and it looked as good as the day we installed it. We also did it ourself. We cut a template with cardboard then took it to a glazier to cut. We painted it ourselves then installed it ourselves. Saved a bomb doing it this way.
