Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks 1 Sep 07, 2012 12:52 pm Can anyone tell me if there is a standard size for glass splashbacks? We are looking at 4.2m x .75 high. Are the standard panels wide enough so that .75 high would not cost much extra than say, .60 high? Or are they all custom made? Can you recommend a place in Sydney that is not outrageously expensive?! I'm aiming to put power point cutouts on the cabinets rather than the splashback so it would be a straight piece, in Stapphire white. Any ideas of the price range to expect before I ask for quotes? Edit - I should have googled - found this re standard sizes - http://www.mykitchenstore.co.uk/myksblog/?p=84 Thanks Re: Standard size for glass splashbacks? And prices ... 2Sep 29, 2012 5:52 pm All glass splash backs are custom made. You pay by the square meter so width doesn't usually matter. Might be a good starting point. http://www.decoglaze.com.au/request-quote Good luck with your search. From what I have found out. You do pay by the sq mt but you also have to pay for the cutout (waste) areas. By this I mean glass that is wasted due to cutouts around cupboards, windows etc on top of the extra cost for the actual cutting. We will be getting a few quotes soon for ours and I have to decide what to do behind the range hood as the piece along that wall under the overheads will be 4300 x 550 but there is also a 1000mm wide section up behind the range hood. This would make the shape like an upside down "T". I don't even know as yet if it will be possible to do one piece but I do know that we will be paying for the waste if it can be done. The other option is to do a join where the bottom of the range hood sits and so save sq mt size because there will be two pieces but this join will be visible as the range hood sits about 80mm away from the overhead cupboards on each side. Once the glass guys give us some quotes we will ask if we can use the cutout (waste) sections on the facade of the breakfast bar. Re: Standard size for glass splashbacks? And prices ... 4Oct 06, 2012 5:29 pm Hi .. I have got quotes for 4.10m x .75, no cutouts, from 3 suppliers, NLGlass, Adlei and Decoglaze, they range from $1320 to $1778, all including measure & installation, and the NLGlass quote (the cheapest) included 3 powerpoint cutouts though I didn't ask for them. So a wide variation .. but we're actually going off the idea of glass now, are thinking it might be too slick & glossy and I feel I might be over it in 5 years time! Starting to look at tiles, and I like the Southern Cross strata stone in Silver Travertine... at this rate of indecision we'll never get started! Re: Standard size for glass splashbacks? And prices ... 5Oct 07, 2012 8:11 am Keep in mind your paint colour. I found the metallic paint added quite a bit per square metre to the overall price of the splashback. Tradie may sit at home but will need to get house plastered as well or will you sit it out? 6 9970 What we have done in a few theatres ( including my own) is run 2 layers of 13mm gyprock, but sounds insulation especially for the bass is really tricky as a lot of that… 4 2569 |
