Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks 1 Mar 20, 2008 12:23 pm Hi guys
Still wanting to do my White kitchen idea - white cupboards, Nova Aurora c/s benchtop, silver handles/appliances. BUT....I can't decide whether to leave the kitchen splashback pure white (upgraded so no green tinge) OR whether to add a colour, nothing drastic I was thinking a light coffee brown (something like ARMY BASE or PEPPERDUST from the link below) My walls are going to be something like Scallopine by Wattyl, which is not white, more of a light grey/neutral colour. So what do you think? The white or a bit of colour? Also just to help out a bit, the kitchen is in an open plan area with the dining/family area close by, we will be having Spotted Gum floors and most of the larger furniture items - tables/chairs/couches are dark chocolate/black and there will be splashes of colour with prints, cushions, floor rugs.....I do like neutral earthy tones So much to choose!! http://www.theglassguy.com.au/solidcolours.htm Re: What colour splashback... 2Mar 20, 2008 12:37 pm https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=5804
Check out this kitchen I’m about to do a style job with. I’m sure this kitchen cost a bomb to make…….Now you tell me; should there be colour behind those glass splashbacks????? I think that splashback looks good as it, however, I think that is due to the fact the cupboards are not all white, there is some brown and some bluey glass cupboards to break up the white... Mine on the other hand will be all white from the front of the cupboards to the back and the kickers, there will be a bit of silver/sparkle in the benchtop, but otherwise all white...thats why I am a bit concerned I may need some colour in the splashback to break it up... BTW Congratulations on landing the job - you go girl!! Re: What colour splashback... 4Mar 20, 2008 12:49 pm Haywgl……..The kitchen in the photo leaves me cold!
I’m actually going to be adding lots of RED when I do the styling for it, to add colour and warmth! I think there should have been a colour behind the splashbacks, its too boring! So I guess that little “think outside the square” didn’t work for you! I think you might like a colour behind your splashbacks, that’s what I was trying to get you to see. Now the question is WHAT colour???? Ohhh thanks for the congrates!!! The kitchen does look dull, however, I thought that was more to do with it having nothing in it and looking 'unfinished' rather than the colours. I think red would look great! My mum has a white kitchen with black/grey with white speckles as a granite bench and she has used red canisters etc to brighten it up - looks fab! I'm glad you think I need a colour!! I do too I just wanted reasurrance What did you think of the colours in the link I posted? Apparently I can use any Dulux colour etc to add to the splashback... I might go and see what I can come up with.. Cheers Bel Re: What colour splashback... 6Mar 20, 2008 1:22 pm We also have white cupboards and benchtops but the splashback is the feature of the kitchen. We are having a red \ maroon colored splashback which will match the feature walls throughout the house. I guess that is the theme of our house. We are also adding a few select tiles including the niches in the showers with the same color. Re: What colour splashback... 7Mar 20, 2008 1:23 pm Great link!!!!

My dining table will be a dark choolate square with leather chairs which I haven't purchased yet - so any colour would do.. My couches are chocolate brown - although look black leather and so is my tv unit. I plan to use vases/flowers with bright orange/white/green colour scheme. My cushions wil be stone/light brown/white modern theme, rug hasn't been chosen yet something modern and neutra with a splash of colour.. I also have to buy some art, my husband is Aboriginal and has some native dot painting artwork that we can hang up, I also have some great canvas black/white pictures of my kids I was thinking of choosing the splashback colour and working around that with my decor.. Re: What colour splashback... 11Mar 20, 2008 1:28 pm haywgl Ooo sounds gorgeous guys!!! I'm so plain and boring with my love of neutral colours.... Not too late!!!!!!!!!!! We can change that!!!!! We have the best place here in Berry that sells great original pieces, I have 2 now. I love them. They are beautifully framed and cost me a bomb! So will his background reflect upon your style of home???? RE – colours and obviously artwork……. Hay… I have a website that sells Aboriginal Art; I’ll post it for you later!!! I’m now starting to get a feel for you….(so to speak!) I can’t find a colour I like on the site! I’ll choose a Dulux one for you when I get home!!! I love Aboriginal artwork too - especially the ones with red earthy tones - so gorgeous!! I can't stand the fake 'rip offs' - you are obviously getting the real thing - you can tell by the price tag!! But so worth it DH does have some input into things he likes - but we mostly agree on our tastes which is funny because we grew up in completly differene home types/environments, we both like neutral tones with a splash of colour - we like modern/clean look and we both hate clutter I'd love to hear some colours you have picked out for us and would love to know that website Thanks again Belinda Re: What colour splashback... 14Mar 20, 2008 4:21 pm Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: What colour splashback... 15Mar 20, 2008 4:36 pm Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: What colour splashback... 17Mar 20, 2008 5:07 pm Colours I would like you to look at.

I like them all!! Because I am a scaredy cat I'm thinking the Blind Date, DH likes the Cajun Brown though!! I'm just scared that it will date.... I think it will look great with white and silver though....hmm to bite the bullet!! Re: What colour splashback... 19Mar 20, 2008 5:29 pm The Mocha Wasp is slightly darker than the Blind Date….nice colour!
Tell DH…. He has good taste! That’s my choice! No it won’t date……any more than all the browns and neutrals you are having!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which by the way is out of date this year…just thought I would rub that in. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: What colour splashback... 20Mar 20, 2008 5:52 pm Haywgl….this is similar to the colour of the Cajun Brown, complements of Helen with her kitchen websites.
I think it will look stunning with an all white kitchen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7143 Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this.
