Mirror Splashback

Hi Everyone,

I'm in the final decision making for my kitchen in the house we are building. Just wondering what your thoughts and feedback on Mirror splashbacks is. They have quoted for "6mm Silver Splash Tough Mirror Series Glass Splashback"

There is no differnece between mirrored splash backs and painted splash backs. Its only the backing colour that differs.

Glass is very tough it doesnt scratch that easy. Walk around your car or home and have a look at the glass.

One thing just make sure it is toughened mirror. Standard mirror will break very very easily!

We have one of these and yes they do require a little more cleaning. However they look amazing. Ours has not scratched and if you use a soft cloth with windex it always looks nice and smear free. Ours cost $1650 installed for just over 3 metres.

thanks for that Luke, is yours the 'normal' look (sorry can't remember the other name) or the smoked mirror one? And where abouts are you?

Ours is a mirrorkote finish so it looks like a slightly tinted mirror. Ours is not the smokey brown look.
We are in Perth

i'll be definately going with mirror splashback for our kitchen and whilst we are in very early stages (still have plans at DA and haven't appointed builder or if we will do OB), mirror splashbacks is one definate decision made ! lol

If anyone has pics of theirs or any advice/tips about dos and donts feel free to share ;-)

Costings would be helpful too as i have no idea as yet what i'm up for.

My uncle installs splashback for a livingn & he will be doing ours. He has really been pushing us to go mirror. He said he has been a lot of them these days. I really think we will go standard as mirrors freak me out!

I'm a bit late finding this thread for you..

We have a 2 metre section of mirror, our builder charged us an additional $1200 for it.

This is the best photo I have at the moment...

I am having one installed in the butlers pantry on Thursday. It is 2.3 metres long and 600mm high with one powerpoint cut out. Cost is $700 installed. I had 3 quotes, $700, $750 and $800.

Will get a pic once it is installed. It is toughened glass

Yes please we are looking to get a Black mirror splashback, our builder doesnt want to know much about it as its not in their standard selection. Any recommendations in Sydney or online you can get these to point the builder in the right direction.
