Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks 1 Jul 26, 2011 12:56 pm My new kitchen will be a traditional style and a glass splashback would look out of place. My current kitchen has the original 1930s subway style tiles which I really like, and I'd like my kitchen to retain some of the original elements (even if they are new tiles, the old ones are a mess and can't be salvaged). My benches will be caesarstone, so my other option is a caesarstone splashback. However I don't feel this will fit the traditional feel either! My question: can I have a short stone splashback, with the subway tiles on top? Or will it look stupid? Check out this picture, I would like my stove wall area to be tiled for ease of cleaning. Notice how there's the short stone splashback against the brick wall: http://www.kitcheners.com.au/_data/docs ... gn_l01.jpg I will also not be having any overhead cabinetry. My kitchen will look similar to these: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_tSGOcFKOoqI/S ... living.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tSGOcFKOoqI/S ... logger.png The second picture has marble benches and splashbacks which look gorgeous... but marble is way out of my budget and I am yet to find a caesarstone option that has that same kind of marbled look. I don't want to get subway tiles then regret it if they look out of place! And I don't want to go just caesarstone splashback because it's so expensive and I might not like the final product! Looking at the two kitchen designs above (the last two), do you think a caesarstone splashback could work with the traditional style cabinetry and windows (my windows wll be similar)?
