The colours look great together BTW! For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: SPLASHBACK Tiling Layout - Help me decide Please 6May 19, 2011 2:24 pm Option c does utilise more tiles a)19 tiles b) 19 tiles c) 22 tiles i have sent an email to the builder to see how many tiles were ordered, just in case i may need to get more, they take 6 weeks to get into Australia! Re: SPLASHBACK Tiling Layout - Help me decide Please 8May 19, 2011 2:40 pm I agree - C (although it means more cuts so may be hard to convince the tiler!) With more even sizing of C your eye isn't drawn to any particular place. With the other two layouts your eye is drawn to the skinny tiles. We just moved into our place with Zucchero freestyle benchtops - you have great taste lol! Re: SPLASHBACK Tiling Layout - Help me decide Please 9May 19, 2011 2:47 pm I'm all about leading lines and I think option a takes your focus up to the rangehood.....not really what you want. I like c as it uses the one row of solid tile in the middle without being too bitsy like option b. I hope that makes sense! Re: SPLASHBACK Tiling Layout - Help me decide Please 10May 19, 2011 3:05 pm C, definitely. my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: SPLASHBACK Tiling Layout - Help me decide Please 12May 19, 2011 4:46 pm C (more) BUT Have it vertical all the way not bottom vertical and rest horicontal. You won't see much at the top cause the rangehood chute covers the middle bit. Or horizontal all the way but position with the grout lines like that of B and C. This will give it a long bench feel. Vertical will gice it more height feel. Re: SPLASHBACK Tiling Layout - Help me decide Please 13May 19, 2011 7:16 pm UPDATE!! I have got an email from the builder, they ordered 22 tiles and thats exactly how many i need! Not sure if i should order 1 or 2 more? This is what i have decided on, its a slight modification of option 'c', except the tiles behind rangehood re-arranged to show minimum grout. i think it works the best! Have spares and more then likely they won't be needed LOL. Murphy's Law. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: SPLASHBACK Tiling Layout - Help me decide Please 15May 19, 2011 9:26 pm hmmm retract what I posted earlier.. looking at the pics on the phone made the tiles go funny half looked vertical and half looked horizontal. That is excellent tile layout you have gone with. I thought this would be a popular question but I haven't been able to find any similar posts. Perhaps I'm wording my searches wrong?
