Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks 1 Apr 04, 2011 6:26 pm I have just done my pre-start but still changing lots of my selections *oops* and I must be driving my builder's CLO crazy although she never mentioned it. Anyway in my drawings, tile splashback in the kitchen is provided BUT all they do is one tile up from the benchtop, meaning the rest is just the wall arghhhh I have overhead cupboards and I have asked that they quote me on the cost of tiling up to the bottom and returns of the cupboards. The untiled wall is 4160 x 500 and both the return are 2 x 600 x 500. Tiles are approximately 200 x 200 size. Does anyone have an estimate on what kind of cost will be reasonable? This is in WA. Mine was the same, but i didnt want returns to keep it tidy. I upgraded my splashback to really nice rectified porcelains (600x300) upto the ceiling. Tiles from Myaree Ceramics, great shop, should check it out since your in Perth. Tiled area: 3190 x 700 for above bench 900 x 586 for rangehood area Cost me ~$311 upgrade. Re: Tile splashback 3Apr 04, 2011 8:59 pm 200x200 is standard size so you won't get charged any extra charge for labour, unless you have porcelain tiles or require mitring which would both usually cost more unless you are building with a high end builder. For standard 200x200 tiles you can usually work on about $120/m2 for supply and install, depending on your builder. Going on this, your tiles may cost around $320 - definitely worth doing the upgrade Re: Tile splashback 4Apr 04, 2011 11:16 pm Hey wrexter, unfortunately I am out of the country at the moment so no more selections for me..sigh...can only make changes via email with my builder at this moment. you have got yourself a good deal, with the rectified porcelains and up to the ceiling to boot...envy envy CA, thanks, looks like I should definitely upgrade if the cost is less than $320 Looking for advice on whether this variation in tile colour is acceptable.
