Its called Blast Grey 3 Re: Show Us Your Splashback 365Nov 14, 2014 8:49 pm Mine is finally in, it's just a plain black glass splashback. Overhead cupboards will have the same colour as below. The island bench actually has a muted purple colour laminex with the same white ceaserstone. I thought I asked for black power points so I'll need to check the doco on that. WIP on the right. Re: Show Us Your Splashback 368Nov 21, 2014 10:31 am Is this white, or could it be whiter? I've posted this on my thread but need the SPLASHBACK experts on this thread to assist pls http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/mryrse/onlot234/20FA529C-C964-45F3-9114-49C25A284D6D_1.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/mryrse/onlot234/3CABF4F4-68F6-42AF-85B7-94EFA2453D8B.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/mryrse/onlot234/5411198D-EF95-4A0D-AE87-2717C8B125A9.jpg During the day pic has no lights on, nighttime pics have the warm LED lights on. --- Re: Show Us Your Splashback 369Nov 21, 2014 1:56 pm The glass used in your job is Starphire Glass, Low Iron Glass or ultra clear these are few of the trade names for it. It has a low iron content to make it more transparent the standard glass which has a much greener tint to it. Staphire glass is a special low iron ultra clear glass that has a slight blueish tint which enhances light transmittance. Just like traditional glass, as thickness and size of the glass increases, the blueish tint darkens. Due to the paint being on the back of the glass the 6mm thick of glass in front has that effect like in your photos. When you take the panels outside they look very white but when you bring them out of the light and into the shadows thats when the blueish tint shows. I thoroughly explain this to my client and always show them a larger sample as I have had this discussion many times because customers do not understand the way light and glass works, its up to us the people who work with these products to inform the client know prior to deciding. This is the whitest you will get using glass. Re: Show Us Your Splashback 370Nov 21, 2014 2:03 pm I also just looked at your thread and seen the label on the glass, it had written on it "China" not sure but if it is refering to the colour than China White is not the whitest paint you can use. Vivid White or Base white is the best to use to make it whiter but you will still have the blueish tinge. Re: Show Us Your Splashback 371Nov 21, 2014 2:08 pm Splashers I also just looked at your thread and seen the label on the glass, it had written on it "China" not sure but if it is refering to the colour than China White is not the whitest paint you can use. Vivid White or Base white is the best to use to make it whiter but you will still have the blueish tinge. Thank you SO much splashers your detailed advice is invaluable to me! The colour we chose was indeed China White. It does make me feel better that no matter what there will be tinges of blue. If we decide to get lighting below those cupboards to shine on the splashback, would you recommend cool or warm light? What would reflect a more white look on the glass? --- Re: Show Us Your Splashback 373Jan 12, 2015 8:20 am Hi All. I need help with a splashback urgently! I'm having an all white kitchen. Polar White cabinetry, ocean foam caesarstone & full strength Hog Bristle paint. The splashback will be so important. I want a neutral colour (latte) but am having trouble finding the exact colour that is subtle but effective. Don't want anything bright or dark. Does anyone have any pics of either Hog Bristle, Arava or Gnu Tan splashbacks? TIA Re: Show Us Your Splashback 374Jan 12, 2015 9:15 am I have attached some pics of the colours you were looking at. There are 7 colours all up. Starting from top left to bottom right they are listed below, also the 2 seperate pics are in same order as in the together pic just standing up. Due to different lighting and shadows they can llok different at your place but hope this helps. Top Row - Hog Bristle, Shetland lace, Puppy, Bot Row -Latte, Warm Neutral, Indian Smoke, Arava Re: Show Us Your Splashback 375Jan 12, 2015 9:58 am Thank you so much! The problem I am having is picturing what they will look like in my kitchen! I found some pics of Arava and loved it so much that I was sure it was what I wanted. I went to have a look at a sample of it on the weekend and found that it has quite a pink tinge? But looking at the pic below, it is perfect!!!! Hog Bristle in your pic looks almost white? And even the Latte looks very light - is the Latte a Dulux colour? And are these all on Starfire? Thanks so much Splashers I have attached some pics of the colours you were looking at. I was told if u lay them down flat like on a bench the glass will look darker and isn't a true indication of how ur splashback will look. Is this true?? Really appreciate ur help Re: Show Us Your Splashback 377Jan 12, 2015 7:51 pm When you lay the glass down flat it generally absorbs and reflects more light therefor making it lighter. When you stand it vertically you get less reflection and with the shadowing of the cabinets can generally darken it up but saying that when its a larger piece it has more surface area and can lighten it too. Glass is tricky with light and reflections that is why you should confirm colours on site when kitchen is installed to get to see how it works best for you as all sites can be very different. Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive).
