My splashback is actually colour matched to a tile I liked but very close to yours and my benchtops and cupboards are very similar too. We are in the process of building our house, the kitchen goes in on Friday and I am still really undecided with the splash backs - my kitchen colours are : benchtop = Laminex Diamond Gloss in White Valencia, Cupboards = Formica Snowdrift in gloss, Kickboards = Formica Brushed Aluminium and we are having bamboo floors in natural. I am thinking of going the clear glass splashback (which I know will give off a bluish tinge) with a pearl white behind - this gives off a bit of a sparkle too? Has anyone done anything similar or seen anything similar? Re: Show Us Your Splashback 343Aug 28, 2013 10:07 am Hi JacBoh. Just so you know it gives off a greenish tinge, not really blue. I'm replacing my kitchen splashback atm and from the samples I saw this morning, the white on clear glass was a definite green. Also a pale blue colour becomes more turquoise on the clear glass. Re: Show Us Your Splashback 344Dec 16, 2013 1:51 pm Hi there, our splashback is not very large. It is ca 65cm high and 165cm wide. We painted a 6mm piece of MDF with chalk paint and fixed an alu frame around like the ones you use for tiling. Paint: Porters Paint Colour: Green Papaya I wanted a lighter green but the chalk wouldn't be much visible. Oily spots come off easily. The decoration on the right is from IKEA. that's how it looks without splashback. cheers Re: Show Us Your Splashback 346Dec 27, 2013 6:30 am Evelin Hi there, We painted a 6mm piece of MDF with chalk paint and fixed an alu frame around like the ones you use for tiling. cheers Really? Not very fire resistant! I wouldn't suggest this is a good idea to anyone! I think it might actually be illegal. But I'd still put glass over and use a white dry erase marker instead! Regulations are in regard to open fire and timber frame built houses. I have a strong Schweigen rangehood above it. My cooking does not include dishes where the food is soaked in oil which at some point could catch fire. My benchtop and bottom strip (7cm) below the splashback is stone as well. The few spots of oil on the splashback I just wipe off with a wet cloth. Although glass and metal distributes heat much better than MDF. I think it is fair to say before my house burns down, the chances that it gets flooded because of poorly constructed gutters (not done by us) is far far greater. Re: Show Us Your Splashback 349Jan 01, 2014 3:28 am Interesting. I did see the lip of stone at the bottom. Overall it looks great and you've styled it beautifully. When the last bit has been done (we are waiting for some trims for the flooring) I will put pictures up in "show me your kitchen". Re: Show Us Your Splashback 352Mar 26, 2014 1:27 pm Suits the kitchen very well My splashback, the glass guy looked at me weird when I asked for it to go over window but I love it and think it finishes it off nicely Need to take some better photos haha - its a metallic grey Re: Show Us Your Splashback 353Mar 26, 2014 2:54 pm It does finish it off nicely. Gives it that professional finish look rather than just standard. what a great kitchen Leanne! Re: Show Us Your Splashback 354Mar 27, 2014 3:07 pm emeri Hi everyone Here's pics of my splashback. It is Resene metallic 'Scotty Silver' on starfire glass. It looks different colours depending on whether the light is on it or not. Which is what I wanted. Something shimmery. http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/emeri21/IMG_8812.jpg http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/emeri21/IMG_8809.jpg http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/emeri21/IMG_8810.jpg Thanks for the inspiration folks! I really love your kitchen and splashback - I can not seem to find a colour called scotty silver - is it a dulux colour do you know Re: Show Us Your Splashback 359Sep 12, 2014 9:16 am joannek I can finally show my splashback! !
