Re: Show Us Your Splashback 293Dec 07, 2012 6:00 pm is the granite a white granite that looks like marble? I have seen white granite on the forum (cant remember who had it) and it was UNREAL I was in love much better than marble, re wear and tear but looked similar (but more brown marks than grey). is it like that? if so ...whoaoaoaoaoao do you have a pic? i think subway tiles done in a brick pattern looks classy. Re: Show Us Your Splashback 294Dec 07, 2012 7:15 pm Rhonda - I had glass splashback in our first build and when the afternoon sun shone on it you could see every little mark, I could never get it totally clean. This place I decided to give tiles a go and find them easy to clean and no grout discoloured after twelve months. kitchen http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s507/grumblebum54/tiles2.jpg pantry http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s507/grumblebum54/tiles1.jpg Kiwi – I chose granite for the kitchen in our first place and the day it was to go to the stonemason they found a crack right through the middle and rang me to come and choose another piece. The colour was Bordeaux (see pic below) and they couldn’t find another piece in Sydney. http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s507/grumblebum54/super_bordeaux_granite1.jpg Not a huge fan of the caesarstone in this place and would definitely revert to granite in any future build. Or should I say that I was, not my wife. But after getting the photo as a background on the glass you cannot see any marks. A quality that was not part of the idea to go for a photo. And we went for quatntum quartz mainly for the colour as it was also in the photo that I took. Our kitchen is shown earlier in this thread. We all design the kitchen to what WE want. That was unlucky about the marble. At least they saw the crack before any work was done on it. Phil Re: Show Us Your Splashback 296Dec 07, 2012 8:18 pm yes kiwi.. i actually first saw it on here and have been tracking it down. No pics yet, going to view slabs new week. GB54 i have never really liked the glass option for that reason and because the kitchens get alot of natural light. and i was thinking white tiles...but having seen yours..i loveeee the grey. Did you seal the grout??is it white? Re: Show Us Your Splashback 297Dec 08, 2012 12:45 pm grumble was that pic of the granite you HAD, or the one you wanted but the crack was in it? if it wasnt what then went in, do you have a pic of what you re chose? rhonda, very excited to see a pic of the white you will choose. I think it is amazing, but not seen it in real life. in pics it looks mint! how yummy!!! Re: Show Us Your Splashback 299Dec 08, 2012 2:15 pm dont know, i just googled via photobucket! white granite. but that is usually what it looks like...a fab grain through it. all different, as its from nature , ha ha so if you like it...its gone mate! got to find your own Re: Show Us Your Splashback 300Dec 12, 2012 12:56 am Rhonda – Did not seal the grout and it is white. Asked the tile lady about having a dark grout and she said not with a white bench. kiwi – Slab pictured above had the crack, we ended up choosing one called Baltic Brown and I had chosen cupboards that were creamy so looked OK together. baltic brown granite closeup That white granite is to die for, and I will probably always regret not having granite in this place. There is something about the feel of it, always cool to the touch, and just throw your pastry on it and roll it out, easy to clean, I could go on and on.
