Show Us Your Splashback

In the last couple of months there seems to have been an increase in questions about splashbacks / colours / tiled or glass etc.

So in the same vein as the Show Us Your Kitchen thread - how about one solely on splashbacks?

If you want to post a photo and then as many details as possible it might just help those looking for inspiration.

This is mine. Starfire (Starphire as described as well) glass with a custom photo of Waimea Bay on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.
Here is the splashback we put in our kitchen when we renovated it a couple of years ago, I love the way we have done the feature tiles so I'm thinking we will do something similar in the place we're building now. (sorry about them being unfinished pics, I don't seem to have any after they were cleaned and all the bits finished off, oops)

This is mine -

Can't say mines all that interesting, we just wanted something neutral so I could add and swap colours in my accesories whenever I wanted.

It is british paints peace stone, which is no longer on their colour charts, but it was one of the builders standard ones. (cupboards are formica charred oak, and benchtops are essa stone crystal salt
)

Kyton, wow that is awesome!!

Rizzo, you have a lovely kitchen.
I'll play
Ironbark Metallic on Starfire glass
I'm also interested in the discussion about glass vs. tiled splashbacks, especially if you have gas cooking.

Our gas cooktop is designed so that the large burner is at the back and super close to the splashback
Could the heat crack the glass eventually??
mine's extreme boring in comparison with some of these! plain white rectangular gloss ceramics laid in stack style. this be the closest photo i have.

Hi Lex, I know when I use my wok burner, which is in the centre, the flame goes right out to the edges of the biggest pot, so that's a good question. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer.... sorry

Provided it is toughened glass, at 6mm thick they can withstand temperatures up to 650C. Unless the flame is directly impinging the splashback (in which case you have bigger issues than what splashback to use), then the radiated heat from your burner will not reach this level....
OK, this is my splashback for the budget concious. We were going to go with glass but the money ran dry so all up this cost $357 including labour.

300mmx600mm white rectified tiles.

there are some truly gorgeous splashbacks here....Ikon I love the idea of a photo or image behind the splashback glass...the possibilies are endless...
This is a picture taken from a display home we were inspired by, we are having the exact same colour, although in the flesh it doesnt look so raspberry, it is more a deep red...We have also chosen same colour scheme with cupboards, but a kashmir white granite island bench top

The 'cook' picked the colour to match the casual area adjacent our kitchen

I think it's a close match to Dulux....."I don't know"....her exact words.

Her/our nephew and 'cook' chose a bright yellow splashback for their home in University Hill and now living with their mistake.

I love that exactly as it is
I too looove that raspberry red !!!

BTW, huggy_B, love your avatar!!

Yep, suh, the "little" accident in your bathroom made me think "well what about kitchen splashbacks?"

But would ceramic (or porcelain, for that matter) tiles be more equipped to handle close flame? I don't know if the flame would actually touch the glass, maybe just come close, some 10mm
... will have to test.

OK, tested
. It doesn't seem it goes any closer than some 30mm. I suppose it must be OK? But that burner is enormous
... just the noise it makes is scary enough!!!
Lovingthis thread- great idea Kyton!
Ours is 'Mercury' - a metallic grey with regular glass. It looks grey at night and more blue grey during the day.

3m ceilings - how high would you have your kitchen cabinets?

Kitchen Corner

Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive). Would require a mini…
