What particular colour is that noworries?? Herbie, do you have any photo's of the Red Box? We've selected it for our kitchen too - won't be happening for a while but we're really looking forward to it. We'll be accessorising with Stainless Steel items on the benches as well as appliances so we think it will always be a wow factor well into the future. SK. My problem is like Deemarees - i change my choice of decor colour like I change my underwear!!! So for me I have stuck with a plain colour (black) so I can change the less expensive things like canisters, vases, bowls etc when I change my mind!!! I'd say go for colour and red is well suited for the kitchen. I might be biased as our splashback is burnt orange but does give off a red to it and it particularly looks red in photos. It was more or less going to be orange from the start. Boring, bland and "safe" colours are just boring too me. Be bold and daring and I am sure you will have no regrets. I love my kitchen. It might not be everyone's thing but it's you who has to live in it. As for the lights this could really work well if they are matching but also you can have lights that are also a feature without matching them to the the splashback colour. A funky light/pendants can do a better job sometimes then just matching coloured ones. I'd be sooo excited to see how it all turns out and interested to know what you decide.....hint-go the red. Look at "dollarz house" thread and you should see my splashback-it's not for everyone but it might help you decide. Re: Red Splashback...??? 26Jun 23, 2010 11:51 pm I am a red freak and would have loved to have red splashback or tiles but im also a chicken and couldnt do it I have gone with the neutral look light benchtop choc cupboards light tiles and plenty of red accesories Soots viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31037 harvard 27 DFH signed contract 16th March 2010 slab down 1st June 2010 frame started 8th June 2010 trusses and frame finished 24th June 2010 tiles almost done 14th July 2010 Bricks started 14th July 2010 Plaster started 28th July 2010 Paint 25th August 2010 Re: Red Splashback...??? 27Jun 24, 2010 9:17 am Before we built this home I really did not like red at all - in any shape or form. But since being on this forum and seeing people's use of it I think the right red can look absolutely stunning (Laurend's kitchen and MrsB's splash spring to mind). I personally would never have one but that is because I am a blue person (and am in love with my photo splashback LOL) but I keep saying it - choose what makes your heart sing!!! I walk into my kitchen and I always look at my splash and feel happy ......... which is exactly the feeling I want to feel in my home. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Red Splashback...??? 29Jun 26, 2010 8:21 pm Hyper handmick Ours is called Red Desert Looks good. Do you know who makes that paint? Sorry Hyper not sure, but I do know that Henley only use Dulux paint. Re: Red Splashback...??? 30Jun 28, 2010 12:31 pm I love red. If my chocolate cabinets were a bit darker and not so chocolatey, I would have loved a red splashback, but I just don't think it would have gone well with my chocolate. I did see a photo of a really stunning kitchen that had a combination of red glass splashback on one wall and white tiles on another. The photo is on my laptop at home (I'm currently at work) so I will post it when I get home if I remember because I think it is lovely!! If I could do my kitchen over, I'd borrow a few ideas from it. I say go for red if it's what you want, you have to live with it! Re: Red Splashback...??? 32Jul 15, 2010 2:43 pm Hi Ally, Welcome to the forum! After all the dramas you've had with your land, your house is now shaping up very very nice. I cant believe you have some bricks already where ours is still piled up from last month. Looking forward for more progress. JR Re: Red Splashback...??? 33Jul 26, 2010 12:42 pm Is it too late - have you decided? We just installed a red glass splashback and it's awesome. Ceasarstone Latte benchtop, and Antique White cabinets. The red is Dulux Mars Red. I'm ne to this but will try to upload a photo. Re: Red Splashback...??? 35Jul 26, 2010 8:33 pm I'm a neutral kinda gal with touches of colour that can be easily replaced to something different when you change your mind! A lot of it depends on what type of home and decorating style you are trying to achieve. A red splashback would look so absolutely wrong in my house, as it's very neutral and in a fairly traditional style. BUT, red looks fabulous if you are creating a contemporary feel in your home...just like Mrs B's...looks amazing! Even if I did build a contemporary home, I still probably wouldn't go for red as it's not really a colour I MUST have...apart from my red shiny handbag! I have used blue, black, white, leaf green and dusty pink as accent colours, although there is red in my son's bedroom...but that's a bit different!! ultimately, it's a desicion you have to make yourself! Ever wondered why all those fast food places have a lot of red in them??? I’m restoring all my 40yr old windows and I want to install seals around the casements. I’ve sanded back and oiled the frames with sikkens. My plan is to box up inside… 0 6523 |
