My Partner and I are debating over the splashback colour. Should we go for Bold statement with a Red splashback, or keep it simple with a neutral colour?
Please share your thoughts and pictures...
Cheers.

Sorry, I'm new to this Benchtop : Creamy/ Light coloured (caeserstone hopefully!) Lower cupboards : Chocolate Upper cupboards : Glass I want to build little LED lights in the base of the upper cupboards to shine onto the benchtop/ splashback. I have my eye on these beautiful Red pendant lights to put over the bench (x3 pendants). Not sure if this will clash with Red spalshback or look great..... http://allyslilcastle.blogspot.com/ Re: Red Splashback...??? 4Jun 22, 2010 9:31 pm Just make sure that the reds in the splashback & pendants match.....could look stunning! Friends of ours had this colour scheme in their last house (they are having neutral this time). Might be too much red if you do both - but again depends on your kitchen plan! Have you seen the Dulux range of metallic colors? Maybe you could do a metallic neutral? I must say though - I'm a neutral kinda gal Oh, have you had a look through here viewtopic.php?f=16&t=13838 heaps of ideas! Bel Still not in. Don't ask!? My partner wants the red (although this is my house, so I get final vote ) My partner believes that a bold colour 'grabs' your attention in the kitchen. I prefer a neutral splashback and then add a splash of colour elsewhere, like the pendants. Plus, I'm concerned that the 'red' trend is just that, a Trend! http://allyslilcastle.blogspot.com/ Re: Red Splashback...??? 7Jun 22, 2010 9:43 pm allys86 bel No probs, you are just more likely to get a response Sounds great - I'd probably do the neutral splashback, and then the red feature pendants. That's why I'm having white on white with splashes of colour via accessories! I've learned that much about myself-I want to change colour schemes long before a "coloured"kitchen wears out....... But I'm 1 - not game enough, and 2 - get bored so might want to change it after a year or so (which wouldn't actually be an option for the amount of $ you pay for them)! I'll be doing the red accessories, or green, or blue, or purple........ Dee yoy bet me - we just said the same thing - sort of! Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Red Splashback...??? 9Jun 22, 2010 9:46 pm Green accessories for me to start with Bel! My parents still have a 70's dark brown and orange kitchen which I absolutely hate. I am definitely a fan of neutral kitchens as kitchens are the areas that date so quickly. I voted Neutral. Just my two cents. Will post pic when done but might be a bit - saving pennies Re: Red Splashback...??? 13Jun 23, 2010 4:32 pm id go a nice classy neutral.....unless you can afford to change it in a few years The red wil be wow, and give you that NOW but I think it is on trend and will date.....plus a neutral colour will always be in vogue and just looks classier IMO Good luck, im new to this too and its fun hey! Re: Red Splashback...??? 14Jun 23, 2010 6:08 pm Red all the way for me!! I had red in my old house which we did a minor reno on (no walls moved just paint, carpet etc) and used 'Dulux Red Box' , and in our new house we are having Dulux 'Red Capsicum'. I am a red fan!! Re: Red Splashback...??? 15Jun 23, 2010 8:25 pm I honestly don't think the red splashback is an actual trend it's a personal choice like every other colour. There aren't an enormous amount of red splashbacks on this forum. I'm not a fan, we all know that but I have seen some amazing kitchens using red and it always makes me go "WOW". I have one behind my bar actually thanks to DH (still working on that) I love noworriesdimi's splashback with the chocolate and light coloured cupboards and MrsB has a to-die-for kitchen using red. Some people just love red Re: Red Splashback...??? 16Jun 23, 2010 8:34 pm ^What Suh said... I also am not a red fan-but still love seeing it in other peoples kitchens!
