Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks 1 Mar 09, 2010 9:34 pm We're thinking of having a window splashback in our kitchen. I love the way they look during the day - especially with a beautifull garden planted in front of it. But what happens in the evening - you have to stare at a black patch that reflects everything? We can't put a curtain or blind as we're going to have a cook top in front of it. Can people who have or are thinking of getting window splashbacks share their views and/or experiences. Is it just me or others find it uncomfortable as well? Wouldn't tiles or even a glass splashback be a much more attractive alternative at night time? But you know what ? I don't even notice it now & I just love it Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Window splashback at night 3Mar 09, 2010 10:03 pm Hi OurLindrum52, I house sat for some friends a while back and they had the window as a spashback. To alleviate the 'black window' effect, they had planted some beautiful green bamboo about 60cm's back from the window and had installed lighting (with a switch inside) at the base of the plants shining upwards. The bamboo was lit up a vibrant green and was a great feature to look out at when using the bench. Maybe this is something you could think of?
