Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks Re: Splashback after handover? 2Feb 22, 2010 5:09 pm Is the builder letting you do it? Sometimes you wont get certificate of occupancy, unless the splashbacks are installed, but some people get around it. Otherwise no problem.. Just depends on your kitchen and where splashbacks are going, you might have to get the rangehood taken off or make a couple of notch-outs in the slap-on overhead cabinets, if they come down too low,.. in some cases the cooktop has to come out, just to get the glass in. You can definately save couple of bucks this way tho Re: Splashback after handover? 3Feb 22, 2010 6:50 pm Mine is being made as we speak. My handover was 1st feb and I had a glass company come out to quote last week. It should take 10-12 days to be cut and then fitted. Sometimes they need to remove the rangehood, install the glass and then replace the rangehood as nwdimi has said. Very simple. You choose the colour, they measure and quote, they make it and install it. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Splashback after handover? 7Feb 23, 2010 4:49 am esm, thats reasonable. how many power points/holes/cut outs are you having in the glass? Re: Splashback after handover? 8Feb 23, 2010 6:47 am esm our quote from the builder is $1517 for a 3.5m2 glass splashback.. is that a reasonable price tag? You have to pay a bit more cause you're in Sydney they're the rules....I didn't have any powerpoint cutouts and my windows cancelled out some glass although they are framed in it. Re: Splashback after handover? 11Mar 01, 2010 12:35 am Hmmm. We had thought about replacing our splash back as it is an insipid colour, having been talked out of a more striking colour by the 'colour consultant'. We really wish we had gone with our gut feeling at the time. However, this is going to be WAY down the list - they aren't cheap. Pfiff Finally making progress again, with a clothesline (yippee) and some much needed little things being attended to over the holidays. 40 C on New Year's eve? We love our a/c!
