Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks 1 Nov 01, 2009 2:57 pm Hi all - we're having a dark metallic chocolate brown splashback, not sure the exact name (just have a number) but I think its pretty much the same as the 'frothing mocha' i've seen in a few posts, if not a bit darker. Anyway, my question is - will the green tinge show in normal glass in front of this dark colour, or do you need to go the starfire glass? The colour consultant assured me it would be fine with the normal glass, but I tend to trust H1'ers more on this subject Do I need to spend the extra $500 for the starfire tinge-free glass or does it not matter on such a dark colour?? Anyone with dark coloured splashbacks have normal glass? Cheers Caz Caz & Co ALL MOVED IN!! Now comes all the hard work-decorating.... I know we checked ours under both types of glass just to be sure. Re: Does green tinge glass show on dark colour splashbacks?? 3Nov 01, 2009 6:26 pm you know kek, i didn't even think of that at the time! I was so taken up with giving in to myself and letting me get the splashback and as soon as I saw the sample with the metallic choc borwn I just said yes please and added it to the list of upgrades. The colour consultant said "since you're getting such a dark colour, you can get away with the clear glass as there wont be a green tinge noticeable and you wont have to upgrade to starfire" so i didn't bother but now i'm second guessing and think maybe i should....we're with Simonds and I dont fancy going all teh way back to the city to check out samples.... anyone have a dark colour with either glass they want to share pics of?? i'm googling away now caz Caz & Co ALL MOVED IN!! Re: Does green tinge glass show on dark colour splashbacks?? 5Nov 01, 2009 6:41 pm Caz, not that I would know at all, but I think you would get away with it on clear glass. I think it would be fine, but as I said, I haven't seen any. I am interested in the responses you get to this post edit- to add, maybe they could post you 2 samples? since you are the customer and PAYING for the splashback, its the least they could do? www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Does green tinge glass show on dark colour splashbacks?? 6Nov 01, 2009 6:41 pm Frothing Mocha didn't look that dark. My daughter had a sample of Java Dusk (very similar to FM) on clear glass (green tinge) and one on Starfire, the clear glass one looked darker, the Starfire sample was a nicer, truer colour. I probably could have done mine on clear because it's quite dark and you wouldn't have noticed, we also have a red splashback in our bar and it's on clear and you can't see any green. I wouldn't do the Frothing Mocha on clear. Re: Does green tinge glass show on dark colour splashbacks?? 7Nov 01, 2009 6:49 pm Hi Cazoraz, We have Scorpian Red on the standard green tinge glass and we cannot see any green. We were also adviced that the green tinge does not show with dark colours. We now have a double splashback because it would be too hard to replace the origianal one that the paint was coming off. The colour is fantastic Re: Does green tinge glass show on dark colour splashbacks?? 8Nov 01, 2009 7:15 pm Oh WOW Hels I love your kitchen!! Looks beautiful!! Our splashback will be much darker than yours, so if you cant see any green on yours then I'm sure we wont on ours Thanks for the pic!! Caz Caz & Co ALL MOVED IN!! Re: Does green tinge glass show on dark colour splashbacks?? 12Nov 02, 2009 12:49 pm We visited the local glass splashback place a few weeks ago and they had a comparison display with, I don't know, maybe a dozen different colours. They ALL looked different in the Starfire but the dark colours didn't look greenish, they just looked slightly... different. The lighter the colour the more obvious the difference, and the more green coming through. Re: Does green tinge glass show on dark colour splashbacks?? 13Nov 02, 2009 12:57 pm AJV .......... We were also adviced that the green tinge does not show with dark colours. Perfectly true statement. The joinery company I worked for until recently, gave me the exact same advice when I was considering a glass splashback. They install glass s/backs regularly & they only use starfire on light colours. So go ahead with clear glass & save a bundle Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Does green tinge glass show on dark colour splashbacks?? 14Nov 02, 2009 1:22 pm Hels cazoraz Oh WOW Hels I love your kitchen!!
