Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks 1 Sep 06, 2009 10:03 am We are trying to decide which way to go in our kitchen, we want to go granite on the benchtop and glass splashback, but we would also like to consider doing a granite splashback instead. So has anyone done one and was it the ducks guts! If you have regrets can you describe why. Thanks Dan Re: Granite splashback, who has done one? any regrets? 3Sep 06, 2009 9:27 pm We have just finished our kitchen renovation this week and we have a granite bench and matching granite splashback. We are in love with the look as the alternative was to have a different coloured glass splashback. It was impossible to pick a glass splashback which matched our white glass cupboard doors as well as our timber doors plus our granite benches. Matching the splashback to the benchtop gives a seamless look which adds a touch of class (according to us). I will post a photo later in the week and you can judge yourself. Re: Granite splashback, who has done one? any regrets? 6Sep 07, 2009 7:19 pm A friend of mine has one and it looks good. I think it can be a bit much, but not if you choose all your colours carefully. My friend has black granite benchtops and splashbacks, but the cabinets are all off-white, the wall colour is very light and so are the floor tiles, so it isn't overwhelming. I don't think I'd do it myself, but I don't hate it. Re: Granite splashback, who has done one? any regrets? 8Oct 23, 2009 9:15 pm Thank you MajicJ, It was very kind of you to make that comment as my feelings were a little hurt by comments about how heavy and unappealing granite splashbacks look. I still love our splashback and I religiously clean it every night. For me, that is quite an accomplishment as housework is not my "thing". Really, it is very easy to look after and we would still have the granite even if we had the choice again. You are very welcome, I think everyone on here just loves your kitchen - nothing heavy and unappealing about it, it is an absolute feature. And if you love it yourself that makes it even more of an outstanding choice, you can't ask for more than that, so well done you!!! Imagine if we all had the exact same houses, that would be boring. Re: Granite splashback, who has done one? any regrets? 11Oct 24, 2009 10:22 am Neverfinished's kitchen is absolutely stunning! I was so in awe of it when i saw the pictures, (we are getting river white granite benchtops similar looking colour) and seeing neverfinished's granite splackback made me very regretful we hadnt gotten granite for splashback as well! Maybe for some of the darker colours it might look too much and maybe in certain kitchens too... but seriously neverfinished kitchen is AMAZING! (post some pictures neverfinished!) Moved In!!! Yeah, don't let that get to you I have seen comments where people are saying how glass has been so overdone and will be out of fashion before you know it do I care nope....as buildingwithhamra said, everyone likes something different. I love your granite and I love my glass.... I might love your granite just a teeny bit more but don't tell anyone. But we went real light tiles and walls to compensate for that We are extremely happy and I cant wait to start using it - Have had wonderful comments from a lot of the people who have visited - Have some picture up in the blog if u want to see Regards Re: Granite splashback, who has done one? any regrets? 16Oct 28, 2009 7:32 pm I think it can look way too much if you get it wrong - Neverfinished got it right and has a decent sized kitchen to pull it off. I wouldnt do it because i'm way to safe, but I will always look at my kitchen think "what if..."
