Browse Forums Kitchen Splashbacks Re: Laminate as a Splashback? Help Please! 21Nov 05, 2009 2:56 pm I didn't notice this thread had been updated - thanks for the pics, Leane! Looks great! And I too like the stainless steel panel behind your cooktop. I've decided I will just go for good old tiles, now. Looking at ones that are 400x200 in ivory that has a subtle white lined pattern through it for a bit of a feature when you look at it in the right light/angle (the tile itself is flat). Wish I had photos to share, but I'm no closer to my kitchen being in, it's still being ordered and built Re: Laminate as a Splashback? Help Please! 22Nov 05, 2009 2:57 pm Leane, your oven looks familiar. Not sure if it's the same as I bought or one I was looking at! What brand is it? I went for Fisher & Paykel in the end. I go and pick it up this weekend Re: Laminate as a Splashback? Help Please! 24Nov 07, 2009 5:57 pm Hi - just wondering how you find your oven - still tossing up what to buy - I find the best way is to talk with people who actually use them! Laminate spalshback looks like a good idea - I'm going with tiles - just trying to sort out the size. Re: Laminate as a Splashback? Help Please! 25Nov 07, 2009 6:42 pm I spent half the day looking at tiles for splash back today (the other half of the day looking at paint). Size?? I am debating that one too. I orginally had larger ones picked out but now think I should go smaller ones. Still yet to finlise choice. Oven - I haven't used mine yet (as still renovating) but went with Wesinghouse electric fan force with conventional option on the features and a gas cooktop - also Westinghouse. Tried stay Australian. And figured they have been around for years. Mum said she has always had Westinghouse and I have always loved her cooking. Re: Laminate as a Splashback? Help Please! 26Nov 07, 2009 11:27 pm I hope my Fisher & Paykel is ok! I bought the extended warranty to be safe... If I have to go for tiles for splashback (as glass and acrylic is too costly, and I decided against laminate in the end), I like the larger tiles. I would like something larger than 400x200, but like this design. I'll keep looking though in case I find something nicer! I've got a bit of time as I don't mind if my splashback goes in in the new year. Re: Laminate as a Splashback? Help Please! 27Nov 08, 2009 9:33 am Hi Impatient The oven is ok, I wouldn't say it is perfect but I think you have to spend thousands for perfect. It is electric and fan forced but I find it still isn't as even as I what I would like. I notice this when I bake cookies, I still move them around half way through baking, I don't notice it when cooking a roast. I had a warranty claim (something was wrong with the fan) and found Westinghouse reasonably easy to deal with, they are still the sort of business that won't give a time but they were pleasant.
