Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Second guessing splashback colour 23Aug 21, 2009 12:53 pm I love blue and brown together. I think that your colours look lovely. Yep they are different to the majority of homes here - but that is a good thing. You should choose what you love. Lord knows what people will think about our kitchen - we are having white gloss 2pack drawers / cupboards but my benchtop is 80mm of Ming Blue C'stone with waterfall edges - which is a massive statement on a 4m long 1.2m wide island bench. Walls are a taupe colour (Sierra Snow by Wattyl) and timber floors - Northern Box. Choose what makes your heart sing!! Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Second guessing splashback colour 24Aug 21, 2009 1:21 pm Thankyou, Michelle!! And thankyou too, Kyton. I love the Ming Blue Ceasarstone, I looked at it on the US Ceasarstone website when we started planning our first kitchen in 2007 (cos I LOVE blue ), but didn't think you could get it here. I understand from some of your posts you managed to get a large amount, you lucky thing!!! I think your benchtop will be absolutely spectacular. I know you are careful about keeping your lovely house private and I totally understand and respect that but maybe you could post a tiny tiny little picture of your kitchen when it is done? I would absolutely love to see that gorgeous blue bench!!! MagicJ I finally have my own reno thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28335 The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue! Re: Second guessing splashback colour 25Aug 21, 2009 1:24 pm I just checked in to do a search for my mum who has decided she would like a blue splashback!! Perfect timing I think the colours you have picked look really nice MajicJ If you google images for "blue splashback" there are a few to look at there.. I'll have to update the thread I started for mum's kitchen to get some suggestions for the right blue Re: Second guessing splashback colour 26Aug 21, 2009 1:28 pm MagicJ - you are right that Ming Blue is no longer available here, such a shame but obviously we the people who love it were outnumbered by the brown-loving public Our home is around 8wks away (we hope) from being finished. When it is I may post some pictures for a very short period of time. Will let you know. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Second guessing splashback colour 27Aug 21, 2009 1:37 pm Thanks, JoK. Believe me I have been googling for months, I think google is sick of me!!! Good luck with your Mum's kitchen. You did a super job on your own, so she is lucky to have you helping her!!! Kyton, I love blue AND brown, hence the bi-coloured kitchen!! Maybe it's more evidence that I cannot make up my mind!! Thanks for considering posting pics for all the blue-lovers out there - I would be delighted to see them if you do!!! Sea Breeze is too light; it’s like a baby boy blue, no punch, and looks too washed out. With the Alabaster cupboards; you need something with more depth. Baltic is still in the same colour range as the Post Boy only darker, so same family! It would be a shame to go so light with your splashback; you may as well just do the green tint glass, no colour. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Second guessing splashback colour 35Aug 21, 2009 7:27 pm Nice ... I love the Baltic, it has depth and is welcoming and not a cold blue, does that make sense Happy Days is nice too ???? Baltic to me is bordering on Teale, to me , and I love Teale. Re: Second guessing splashback colour 37Aug 21, 2009 8:11 pm Hi guys, sorry to duck out on you, had to feed DD (3) and DS (1) and do baths and bedtime - busy !!! I really like the Baltic too, it's very dramatic compared to Sea Breeze. I just hope it would not be too dark for my G-shaped kitchen. It doesn't get a lot of light - we tried to maximise light by knocking out a wall and replacing it with a load bearing pole and also sticking with very light cabinetry. I'm so excited, going to post some photos for the very first time!! Deeps breath, fingers crossed and here goes...... This is my kitchen cabinetry, installed over last couple of days, so far minus benchtop and splashback....please keep in mind that this is a reno, so had limited floor space to work with, so my kitchen is a little different to the modern island bench style most of you have . Re: Second guessing splashback colour 38Aug 21, 2009 8:13 pm Oh wow, it worked!! My curved glass rangehood will be going on the blank wall, with glass splashback behind it up to the ceiling and above the sink under the long window. The long part of the bench will have a waterfall end, with a teeny tiny breakfast bar thingy, just big enough for 2 stools (lucky I only have 2 kids !) Re: Second guessing splashback colour 39Aug 21, 2009 8:15 pm I have to say now I have seen the photos; the blue will work really well. There is not a lot of splash back, even better for a strong colour, yes you have enough light coming in. I’m still very happy with the colour. Looking good MajicJ, I am so glad you are taking the splash right up to the ceiling, that will look fabulous and I think the colours Michelle has suggested would look unbelievable, that lighter blue suggested by your CC is a real baby blue, you want WOW in your kitchen I don't have any natural light directly on my splashback either, and it's quite dark and I was scared but I have had a few WOW's and am glad I kept it.
