Hi All,
Are there any standard glass splashback colours?
Can I choose any colour for my glass splasback.
Any insight would be appreciated.

We had a standard range of glass splashback colours to choose from (about 6 from memory) and then you could upgrade to "better" colours if you wanted. Building a Wisdom Homes Impression 33 MkII http://lilypadintheponds.blogspot.com/ We have the keys! Tiling in progress... Re: Glass splashback colours 3Jul 10, 2009 8:04 pm I selected the colours at Hopetoun. The colour consultant choose black as the glass splashback. After coming home I realised a dark brown splashback will be more suitable. Just dunno where to look for to find out it is an option(standard or upgrade). Anyone dealing with Hopetoun, can you guide me? thanks Re: Glass splashback colours 4Jul 10, 2009 8:39 pm This is a memory jog however I believe you can choose any paint colour for behind the slashback. The thing to be careful of is the colour does change slightly when viewed through the glass. They have a piece of glass and can pass it over colours to show you what it will look like. You can also pay to have clear glass as an upgrade so the colour is perfect. (This was for PD Lifestyle) Re: Glass splashback colours 5Jul 10, 2009 8:45 pm Please don't make the mistake we did and choose a light colour for your splashback. We didn't get explained to us the different glasses available and from what we could tell the colour would come out as we chose it, a nice latte colour. We got a rude shock on Monday when we saw it for the first time and it is a light green due to the glass. That was a very expensive lesson learnt Re: Glass splashback colours 6Jul 11, 2009 8:28 pm Hey Mishti - We were told we could choose any colour we wanted for the splash back... We are having a bit of a problem with ours right now (Like you MM)... as we chose an offwhite splashback, with clear glass and it still looks green... (Hmmm, I wonder if they used the wrong glass???) On top of that, I think the kitchen looks a bit washed out now... I wish we had chosen a dark splashback too!!! Choose carefully!! Building with PD - Regent 23 in Point Cook WE'RE IN!!! Landscaping! Re: Glass splashback colours 7Jul 11, 2009 8:33 pm I think you have to ask for ''Starfire" glass which is the clearest one without the green tinge. Is that correct? www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Glass splashback colours 8Jul 11, 2009 8:37 pm themax I think you have to ask for ''Starfire" glass which is the clearest one without the green tinge. Is that correct? Spot on. Starfire is completely clear so any colour chosen will come through true. Clear has a green tinge and will change the colour unless it is a very dark colour. I have actually chosen a dark green splashback and will have clear glass. I'm still expecting that it may change the colour slightly. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Glass splashback colours 9Jul 11, 2009 8:43 pm At Hopetoun I too was told I could pick any dulux colour I wanted but if you want to upgrade the glass to star fire then it costs more. I picked Mocha Magic which is one of the samples in there 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Then that means that the splash back we have was our choice, and can't be changed... I was really hoping that they made a mistake with the green tinge... I have had a few phone quotes and each company has explained that to me (did not contact the company you have mentioned though) even over the phone. Maybe they forgot to tell you? www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Glass splashback colours 12Jul 11, 2009 9:12 pm themax DId they tell you about the Starfire glass BEFORE you chose? Re: Glass splashback colours 15Jul 11, 2009 10:15 pm beejay Yeah, they did... but I think when we got to the choosing part, I might have got confused... how can they call it clear if its the bl00dy green one!! It's such an overwhelming day!! Doing this on my own I was so glad I got a friend to come with me to be a sanity check and to bounce idea's off 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' It's all too much sometimes isn't it? I know exactly how you feel having just done it myself. STill not sure of my choices. You may like it Thanks for the tip Lisanne on Hopetoun. Didn't realise. beejay, could you pick up that colour (the green tinge colour) and highlight it in your kitchen somehow? What colour are your cupboards? Could you use it as a contrast to another darker colour with accessories like a chocolate or black maybe? Could you get the paint guy to make up a sample pot to match the green tinge and paint a few accessories (recipe holder frame, mini terracotta pots, little boxes????, frames, something, just to balance the colour as if it was an intentional choice. OR use it as a backdrop fo something dramatic like a black/brown gloss fruit bowl or similar? (depending on your other kitchen colours of course) Just a thought. Maybe mundie mansion could do the same? Perhaps the Interior guru Michelle, may be able to help you out here. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Glass splashback colours 17Jul 12, 2009 10:37 am yeah, am thinking about ways to work the splashback into the kitchen design... below is the link to my thread that has plenty of pics, including one of the green glass installed... I will be back there tomorrow for PCI, so will take closer pics and post em then... maybe get Michelle's expterise involved then too! http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15643&start=340 Building with PD - Regent 23 in Point Cook WE'RE IN!!! Landscaping! Re: Glass splashback colours 18Jul 12, 2009 11:07 am I had a look and I think that it's not so bad at all! I think once you have all your things and yourselves in there and can manage to find one or two accessories to match it will be fine. Any chance of an offcut from the splashback to make a bench coaster or something similar? You know, like a finished bit you could put on your benchtop to stand something like a vase or something on?(perhaps a hot pot stand? stick some silicon dots on the corners to lift ot off the bench top) A stack of glass coasters from same glass would be nice. that would link it. I think I would run with that colour, I actually think it adds a bit to the kitchen. Unfortunately as I well know it's disspointing and hard to move on from it sometimes. (takes me forever to get over things like that, I am hopeless) but I think that it will be ok, I really do. Maybe four small squares of the glass splashback in the corners of that beautiful window, (double sided tape spots? or silicon sticky dots) www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Glass splashback colours 19Jul 12, 2009 7:47 pm themax I had a look and I think that it's not so bad at all! I'm not sure I can get my hands on offcuts... but I'm sure we can work with something similar... actually I think Russell Hobbs does a toaster with that green tinged glass on the sides Building with PD - Regent 23 in Point Cook WE'RE IN!!! Re: Glass splashback colours 20Jul 12, 2009 7:56 pm Thanks themax, I think beejay and I feel a slight bit better and don't feel like such fools for perhaps being naive with this splashback thing. I must say each time I look at mine (only 2 or 3 times) I am getting used to it each time and will certainly be working on acccesories. Am happy to share ideas beejay, we have the colour afterall Need to remove glass panel out of concrete without wrecking the glass to get the spa room in, any recommendations on how to do that.
