Browse Forums Laundry Appliances 1 Mar 10, 2011 9:58 pm I went to Home Expo here in Perth a couple of weeks ago and came across this - a gas dryer...... got info in the mail today What do you all think? http://www.rinnai.com.au/index.php?opti ... &cat_id=26 Re: Gas Dryer? 2Mar 11, 2011 6:27 am May be good option to electricity run ones but it will cost me lost to extend the existing gas pipes from the kitchen o living to bathroom taken into account solid brick walls and concrete slabs stand on the way. Re: Gas Dryer? 4Mar 11, 2011 12:49 pm My wife is big on these. She grew up in the US where these were common years ago. To facilitate, I have asked for a gas point in the laundry inside the cupboard. They're still expensive, though, so we'll have to see. The gas point only cost $295. Honestly, I'd prefer to install a heating duct in the laundry and use a fold-down clothes line/rack, plus have an electric dryer for the times when you need to dry clothing quickly. But then I live in Melbourne where winter is a PITA for getting washing dry. You'd need to weigh up how often you would use a dryer in Perth; what's the cost including installation; and what are the comparitive costs of gas and electricity? Re: Gas Dryer? 7Mar 14, 2011 8:56 am do they require a outlet of some sort? or can be just chucked anywhere. this would be a big saver on the energy bill, or do you think it would suck up the the gas?
