Browse Forums Laundry 1 Oct 20, 2015 5:58 pm The house design we choose originally had a 3.4m long laundry, exactly the same as in the picture posted, but no decent pantry so we redesigned so we would have a walk-in pantry. Unfortunatly we had to lose 400mm off the length because the zero boundary could only be 9m. We halved it giving equal space to the pantry and laundry, making each 1.5L x 1.7W. We removed the door leading outside, put in a window then put a 2.1m sliding door off the dining room area so we could walk out of the laundry and outside. My husband is a cabinetmaker so hes going to make all the pantry fittings and laundry cupboards. The problem is I now have a tiny laundry that needs to be made super functional. We could put a cavity slider to the pantry but theres no room for this in the laundry. I have suggested a bi-fold which my husband is giving some thought to. My washing machine and the tub in our rental unit measures 1.3m but have been thinking of putting in a mini tub and cabinet. There will be an overhead cupboard over the tub and hopefully a broom cupboard to the right of the door. I'm ok with a small laundry but I would still like to maximum every bit of space so any thoughts, particulary regarding the door would be appreciated. I'd actually like to steal 0.5m off the garage and push everything out that way but husband won't wear that idea.[img][/img] Re: Help Me Make This Laundry Work 2Oct 20, 2015 6:59 pm Change the doors to opening out of the laundry rather than into it, and think about having double doors rather than a single. I hadn't even thought of a door opening outwards, brillant idea. How wide would you make double doors? I'd still like to try and get a cupboard in the bottom right corner. Re: Help Me Make This Laundry Work 4Oct 20, 2015 8:45 pm 410mm wide would be good, half a standard door. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Help Me Make This Laundry Work 5Oct 25, 2015 5:00 pm I came across this in a plumbing shop yesterday and although its still 45L its been turned around. My washing machine is 640w and 600L. This tub is 500W and 600L. The wall they will be going against is 1500 so that gives me a 360 gap. I'm thinking of pushing the washing machine hard up against the right hand wall and using that 360 gap between the tub and the left hand wall for a narrow cupboard. Do thers think this is a good plan. The cupboard won't fit much more than a ironing board or a steam mop and brooms but at least its something. I'll also having a bigger cupboard in the right bottom corner. I also think the 900L x 650W window the builder has suggested for the right laundry wall is too big so will be re-addressing that with them this week. I posted the floorplan on Houzz.com forum and got some really good ideas and advice from people there.
