Browse Forums Laundry 1 Jan 29, 2013 9:16 pm Im about to get my laundry done and want some advice on whether to go vinyl wrap or laminate.i know hundreds of people have issues with vinyl wrap, I was one of them.my kitchen lasted about 4 years before it started peeling around the oven, cooktop, kettle and even the cutlery drawers.was installed in 2004 and now replaced with laminate Now doing the laundry I have the dilemma that vinyl wrap is more resistent to water damage and chipping on the edges or so I've been told.i know there is moisture resistant laminate but nothing's perfect.my mums laminate laundry doors and benchtops started peeling about 15 years in which is a good inning.I know vinyl wrap is a no no in kitchens but is one better than the other for wet area like a laundry.i will have a dryer so I imagine the room gets a little warm Thanks Re: Laundry-which doors vinyl vs laminate 2Mar 02, 2013 11:16 am Vinyl wrap for doors in my opinion is no good in any room. I worked for a company that manufactured these doors for some years and there was issues all the time. Vinyl doors are made from vinyl around 0.6mm which is heated up and vacuum stretch onto doors, so changes in temperature or moisture will cause vinyl to stretch and shrink than it will eventually start to delaminate from edges. Use laminate doors as they are the stronger and also just get 2mm PVC edging on doors to protect from damage and help to stop moisture getting in them. They probably are the best suited for laundry's. Re: Laundry-which doors vinyl vs laminate 3Mar 02, 2013 11:32 am Remember they are not actually laminate doors. They are a melamine door with a 1 or 2mm pvc edge. Laminate is actually a totally different product, its 1mm thick and glued to many different substrates.
