Browse Forums Laundry 1 Apr 10, 2008 3:58 am Hi. I'm new to this board, and I've already learned so much from people here. I was hoping someone could help me out re a laundry chute.
I spoke to our building company today, and they said they only do straight chutes, and not in wet areas, eg. bathrooms. I want a chute in the upstairs bathroom. Do I organise this myself with another chippy, or do I have to go with what the builder says? TIA Judie Re: Laundry chute help 2Apr 10, 2008 11:00 am ![]() Hi. Whatever happened to a builder building YOUR home, not the one they want! Get a chippy to do it, and tell your builder to make sure he gets out of the way for YOUR guy and makes allowances for him onsite! ![]() Welcome also! ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Laundry chute help 3Apr 10, 2008 12:27 pm I'm interested to know the logic/reasons behind only a straight shute and not in wet areas. I live in a double storey rental at the moment and our bathroom is right above our laundry and wouldn't it be wonderful! Fi has moved in!! Paula Re: Laundry chute help 7Apr 10, 2008 4:23 pm ![]() Sorry I'm going to hijack this thread. Is it possible to install a laundry chute after building? My bathroom is directly above my laundry. Sure can! Just find a good chippy and your away! Re: Laundry chute help 8Apr 10, 2008 11:54 pm Thanks. Now the builder is saying they don't allow any other tradespeople on the site until after handover. Wouldn't it be more expensive to put the chute in then? I'm beginning to tear my hair out here.
Judie Re: Laundry chute help 9Apr 11, 2008 10:57 pm hmmm - I never thought of a laundry chute....wish I had now ![]() And Judie, that's right - you'll have to wait until after handover to have any other tradespeople work on your house, except measure and quote stuff - the builder is usually OK with granting access for that. Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: Laundry chute help 10Apr 11, 2008 11:17 pm I've always wanted a laundry chute, and that was one of the first things I enquired about with our H3nl3y house. Unfortunately, they won't do it due to the safety issue (kids climbing in them, cats getting stuck etc...). I would still dearly love one, but throwing the dirty clothes over the banister will just have to do once the house is built, and I may consider it down the track. I have a chippy friend who may be willing to help me out! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!!
