Laundry sinks - bypass or without 2Aug 16, 2011 11:48 am Your washing machine drain hose has been connected up to the PVC drain pipe underneath your sink directly, so I guess it has been bypassed. Although, some sinks/troughs have a drain hole/s either side of the sink at back corners for washing machine drain hose to be poked into. Those holes must then be connected up to the PVC pipe below with a bypass kit which would come with the sink. I see no evidence of this with yours. Hope this helps. This is not my laundry, by the way. Laundry sinks - bypass or without 4Aug 16, 2011 12:16 pm I believe you only need to order a sink with bypass kit when the hose is poked into hole in sink at the top. As long as the plumber connects a PVC pipe like yours to the sink underneath, then you can connect up the hose to that under the sink. I would ask the plumbing supplier to confirm this before you order, just to be safe. You can then insert the waste hose from a washing machine into this hole. The hole(s) are then plumbed to the waste under the sink.
It sounds like you want a sink without bypass (ie no holes on the top of the sink lip). The photo you posted shows a sink without bypass connected. This is an example of a sink with bypass (not my sink either ) Hope that helps! Hi, We're building a double-storey in Perth and I'm undecided with the kitchen sink situation.
