Is this what you are thinking about? Re: Clothes hanging rail 3Jul 15, 2011 5:50 pm I've just hung a rail similar to that shown in the photo above, it will be used for a hand towel but also anything dripping can be hung over the tub area while other small items could be hung over the bench end. I just went to the local hardware store and bought a length of 20mm chrome tube along with the matching end cap brackets and screwed the brackets into the bottom of the overhead cabinets. If you have a long span there is a middle support bracket available. This was much cheaper than buying a towel rail that wasn't near as long. Laundry wall cupboards are 600mm above the bench with 600mm porcelain tiles as splashback. I also hung another hanging rail along the outside edge of the shelf in the WIR, much easier when re-hanging clothes before putting them away, specially if you need to do zips/buttons/etc. Re: Clothes hanging rail 4Jul 15, 2011 6:43 pm valleygirl23 I found this photo on Beaumont Tile's website. Re: Clothes hanging rail 5Jul 15, 2011 7:04 pm Glad you like it! Mine has been up for weeks and a coincidence it's just like the one in the photo. If you need anything further don't hesitate to PM. Re: Clothes hanging rail 8Jul 16, 2011 11:40 am suh It is a great idea. I would like to install a full mini wall clothes line in my laundry but atm I'm dragging in the clothes horse when needed. It's that time of year. Me too suh. We have a full length bench on one side of the laundry with no over heads above. I'm going to put in a fold down Hills indoor line above the bench and next to it a floating shelf for the clothes baskets and pegs. On the other side where the sink, washer and over head cupboards are, I'm going to put a rail like the pic above, but it will only be over the sink for delicates. We thought about a full width rail but didn't want to raise the over heads. I'm sure I'm not the only one sick of hanging their wet bras up in the shower, a little rail above the sink to hang hand washing will be perfect. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Clothes hanging rail 9Jul 16, 2011 10:13 pm suh It is a great idea. I would like to install a full mini wall clothes line in my laundry but atm I'm dragging in the clothes horse when needed. It's that time of year. I recently bought an Ezi-lift clothesline to put in laundry. I liked the idea of raising it to the roof. I haven't put it up as yet so I can only hope it works as well as they say it does Success is the result of good judgment, good judgment is the result of experience, and experience is often the result of bad judgment! But the chrome tube idea beats searching for a perfect size towel rail which is where I got stuck. Re: Clothes hanging rail 11Jul 18, 2011 7:26 pm Has anyone tried the pulley maid brand or similar? They are very common in the uk and havnt really changed much in 50 years. Fairly expensive but they are well made and look pretty good...well as good as a clothes airer can lol. Locally some sites want over $250.00 for them but from ebay from the uk they are much cheaper. anyone got one? Re: Clothes hanging rail 14Jul 31, 2011 10:35 pm This is what I installed after reading Happy Camper's idea. http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/zz27/deemareeinwinslow/Entryandlaundrychangesjuly2011018.jpg Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: Clothes hanging rail 16Dec 13, 2011 10:18 am Hi, I love the picture from the Beaumonts Tiles website, can anyone guestimate how high the overhead cupboards might be above the benchtop? I really like that feeling of space at bench height. I'll worry about accessing the overhead cupboards later! Re: Clothes hanging rail 17Dec 13, 2011 10:34 am Not sure of the height but they look quite high and imho would be awkward to reach the top shelf. My wall cupboards are 600mm above the bench, splashback is a single row of porcelain tiles (600 x 600) and although I'm tall I wouldn't want them any higher. Re: Clothes hanging rail 18Dec 13, 2011 12:07 pm Slightly off topic but some might be interested. My cousin has one of these installed in her laundry. I believe it comes in 2 sizes, 80cm and 120cm.... fits heaps of washing on it... http://www.hsw.com.au/index.php?product ... id_dept=13 She absolutely swears by it. She says it is fantastic and one of the best things she put in her house (and she has some pretty fantastic features in her house). They also have a ducted heating unit directly above it so her clothes are dry in no time! Electrical just got back to me and said the most they can provide is a single power point on the Bedroom 1 side of that wall. After handover, your towel rail installer… 2 3851 |
