Browse Forums Laundry 1 Jun 25, 2011 8:38 pm In our current house we have two baskets in our WIR (whites/colours) and Jocelyn has one from IKEA with a separator for whites and colours again. I'm not sure I want to do the same in the new house. It would mean changing routine though and we know how husbands and children handle that!! How does everyone else do their laundry hampers? Casey + Gary + 5 kool kiddos + 1 funky Frenchie + 5 happy hens = barrels of fun in Muswellbrook Re: Where are your laundry hampers? 2Jun 25, 2011 8:43 pm We have a decent size laundry, so two hampers sit right next to the washing machine (colours/whites). Fortunately we're all pretty well-trained at taking dirty clothes to the laundry....even my 4 year old! Re: Where are your laundry hampers? 3Jun 25, 2011 8:58 pm We have a shute from the main bathroom to the laundry (which the kids love to use) and we have a basket in our bedroom. My husband is so frustrating with his dirty clothes, he will go past the basket to put them on the floor. I pick up his clothes and put them in the basket if I'm pushed for time, and everything goes down the chute when I'm a little more organised. I sort the clothes in the laundry - reds, blues, whites, darks, workclothes. On the lookout for a decent hamper to keep them sorted but in the meantime I have tubtrug-style baskets in the middle of the laundry floor. Re: Where are your laundry hampers? 6Jun 25, 2011 10:52 pm Currently it's in the bathroom. But in the new house it will be in the walk in robe as we don't have a shute Re: Where are your laundry hampers? 7Jun 26, 2011 8:26 am I so desperately wanted a chute from the ensuite to the laundry but the builder wouldn't put one in We have one basket in the laundry and I sort in there. The kids have 'trouble' putting clothes in it (they usually leave them tossed in their room somewhere) but if they want to get pocket money they will soon learn!! I may put a basket up stairs for them, but I'd be happy if they just took them down themselves!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! The bathroom is right beside the main bathroom in the new place, so it is easy for them to just put their clothes in there ... no need for a basket in their bathroom. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Where are your laundry hampers? 10Jun 26, 2011 8:54 am Our bedrooms and ensuites are all located around the laundry. So no hampers here at all. There is a laundry basket on the floor of the laundry and all dirty clothing is put straight into it. I then sort and wash each day. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Where are your laundry hampers? 11Jun 26, 2011 9:10 am just Erin We have 3, one in the ensuite for underwear, one in the laundry for ordinary clothes, and one in the garage for hubby's work clothes (they're not allowed in the house as they're always filthy) love it Erin. Re: Where are your laundry hampers? 12May 14, 2012 2:48 pm We each have our own laundry basket in the bedroom and then my husband also has one in his bathroom for his gym clothes. Am I the only one with a husband who usually does his own laundry?! PS - No kids! Re: Where are your laundry hampers? 13May 14, 2012 5:59 pm My husband does his own laundry too! All my friends think it's bizarre I got my laundry benchtop extended full width with no cupboards underneath on one side so I have somewhere to store the laundry hampers. We will also have one in the ensuite as it is a fair distance from the laundry. I admire you women who wash every day! I only wash on days I'm not working. I will try and be more organised in the new house... Where are your laundry hampers? 14May 14, 2012 10:03 pm I have a pull out drawer in the laundry that the kids will use but I want to put something in it to separate it and make 2 compartments (dark/lights) not sure what I want in our bathroom (my clothes end up on the floor). We dont run out of clothes so not a problem. This is my organised. Laundry hamper is in our bedroom - easier for us to put clothes in hamper in there - laundry is other end of house. I just take the hamper to the laundry when I do the washing. We dont have his and hers washing - I do most of it but DH hangs up a load or brings in a load if I ask him to.
