Browse Forums Laundry 1 May 29, 2011 3:52 pm Hi folks We have a few cupboards in our laundry, but they are separate - in opposite corners etc and it has a separate laundry tub with the metal cupboard underneath. I would like to put in one long bench running the length of one of the walls, with a bench top and cupboards underneath (leaving space for the front loader) and building in the laundry tup into the benchtop etc. Or there might be one taller linen cupboard/less bench space. Anyway, its all pretty basic. Has anyone done anything similar and can anyone give me an estimate of costs. Length of bench/cupboards is approx. 3-3.5m (plumbing outlets can remain as is - just need the cabinets built really). Do you think we would get something for $2-$3k (or is that way too much for one bench top and maybe 6 cupboard doors with internal shelving). HHCIB Re: laundry cabinets 2May 31, 2011 6:18 pm Price is very dependant on the materials you choose for the doors and bench tops. But from your sizes you should be easily able to do it for around 2-2.5k Cutting Edge Kitchens and Cabinet Making http://cuttingedgekitchens.net.au http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cutting-Edge-Kitchens/290484196676 Mobile : 0419 430 575 PH: 9452 4772 Fax :9452 4772 cuttingedgekitchens@outlook.com laundry cabinets 3May 31, 2011 10:38 pm Check out Matt Walkers Reno thread. He has just done a beaut job on his laundry. If you are handy you can do flatpacks and then have a stonemason do the benchtop. For our laundry I have an ex-demo kitchen cupboard setup that is close to 4m in length. Got it at an auction for next to nothing. Then hired a stonemason to do the c'stone top with a waterfall edge on one side. Worked out heaps cheaper then getting our builder to do it. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: laundry cabinets 4Jun 01, 2011 8:04 pm If you are very handy, you could always try building it yourself. We just bought white laminate to do all our study cabinetry for less than what the flatpack price was just for a few wall cabinets. Have you tried ebay or graysonline as sometimes they sell off laundry cabinets as well. Kyton - I did in fact check out Matt's thread - very similar to what we would be wanting - thanks for that. I might PM him with a few questions. But all in all, at least I know I should be able to get away with it for $2k-$2.5k - or cheaper if we flat pack/do ourselves etc. Thanks again. HHCIB $2k - 2.5k and you will be able to afford a cabinet maker to do it. If flat packs cost this much your paying far to much! Best thing you can do is put a quick plan together and email it to a couple of cabinet makers and get a price. I wasn't necessarily thinking I would pay that much for flat packs, just good to know that we can get a laundry for that price - whether it be through cabinet maker or flat pack. Bonus to know that flat pack way cheaper again (of course, I am including bench tops to fit etc). I have no clue on cost of things at this stage - still just putting feelers out in here for things we are interested in doing. Good idea to email around though CEK and will keep that in mind. Thanks, HHCIB You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9900 Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive). Would require a mini… 13 39275 Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4059 |
