TIA Re: Rainwater BASIX requirements 3Jul 08, 2024 7:55 am Thanks Bimbob, But my builders interpretation with the basix reports shows toilet, laundry and a outside landscape connects to water tank. I assumed with the 7 star BS, it was compulsory? Cheers for any insight. Re: Rainwater BASIX requirements 4Jul 08, 2024 11:24 am NSW BASIX deemed rainwater laundry use hasn't been compulsory for several years. Have you signed the contract? The general problem with using rainwater for laundry use has been the poor quality of the water delivered. If your rainwater harvesting system has been optioned and installed to Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice, using rainwater is better for your washing maching and clothes plus it gives year round utilisation of the harvested resource. I recommend having a separate rainwater tap fitted rather than plumbing to the existing cold water tap. Unfortunately, the majority of rainwater harvesting systems are substandard. 3in1 Supadiverta. Yes Thanks, that's what we requested our builder to do. assuming i turn off the tank pump, will that by pass the tank and use main water? Re: Rainwater BASIX requirements 6Jul 08, 2024 1:43 pm If it is an automatic mains water switching device, yes. The alternative manual system will have two valves you turn, one on and one off. Manual systems are significantly cheaper and bullet proof but are rarely offered as an option. There is more to be made by fitting an automatic device. 3in1 Supadiverta. Does anyone know, if can be bypassed or feasible work arounds? TIA You can ask the plumber to run 2 pipes to you laundry. One connected to the mains and one to the tank ( i did this in my home) I find that if you just turn your pump off to the tank the water pressure is weaker as there is some type of valve the water needs to pass through which affects pressure Architectural Homes & Duplexes - specialising in custom designing homes to your budget Get a Free Onsite Consultation Today or send a PM for information, questions or advice.
