Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Jan 24, 2015 3:54 pm My St George wall oven has finally packed it in after 19 years of service (I found the original warranty card, with an install date of March, 1996!). It's broken only once before, a couple of years back, and the repair was nearly $400. So rather than paying that again, it's time for a replacement. Strangely though, despite being a "600mm" oven, it's actually 640mm high, and the cavity it sits in is just under that (the oven has a small top lip at the front). All the ovens I'm looking at for replacement are 598mm high, and don't seem to have any lip. Is this normal?? And if so, what do I do to cover the 40mm gap once the new oven goes in? The cabinet is period style timber, Vic Ash or Tassie Oak I believe. Do i just need to find some matching timber and cut it to fit? Re: Oven sizes? 3Jan 24, 2015 10:25 pm That might be true, but the problem is there are zero ovens on Appliances Online with a size between 600 and 700mm. Everything's pretty much 598mm high for 600mm ovens. Re: Oven sizes? 4Jan 25, 2015 8:21 am looks like you will need to re do the frame hopefully not to much of a big deal. Otherwise the other option is to fix the oven. You dont mention what the issue is. but could it be somethign simple like an element that needs replacing? Re: Oven sizes? 5Jan 29, 2015 12:10 pm I think the St George ovens are now 620mm high so it might be the closest to the one you have now. http://www.sga.com.au/built-in-single/single-wall-oven-pull-down-left-or-right-side-open/w1/i1249480_1001250/ Otherwise if you want to go for a normal 60cm oven you may try to fill the top and bottom gaps with some timber offcuts and cover them with Tassie Oak veneer edging: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Iron-On-Timber-Veneer-Edging-TASMANIAN-OAK-22mm-x-5-metres-Pre-Glued-/161000471069?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 I have a box of quality drill bits that seem to be new but their engraved sizes covered by rust ,,,,I tried to sand them to see their sizes but still I am finding… 0 1614 put the 2 draw set directly under the cooktop and the 3 draw set either side for balance 1 1397 Hi Chippy, no there isn't, gave it a really good look through and literally opened everything and checked all edges as well.
