I was very tempted (and still am) but don't want to take the risk of leaking due to my timber floorboards. I'm assuming you haven't used yours yet oncewerefurriers? Re: Mighty cheap French Door fridge 4Nov 21, 2013 11:27 pm JB1. No we've not even received it yet. I'm wary of putting too much faith in reviews. Review sites tend to be quite polarising. 10 reviews from how many units sold? Maybe it will turn out to be a dog, it'll go back if it is. Looking at those reviews, at least two of those leaks look like they were caused by the purchaser connecting it up. And another one talks about the internal filter leaking? It's got an in-line filter. Re: Mighty cheap French Door fridge 5Nov 23, 2013 6:03 am I'm also slightly skeptical, however Most products at least have some level of good feedback, but it looks like the water leak is common fault and even the positive reviewers had issues with the fridge. If it was an user installation error, water connections leak almost immediately. I wouldn't have an issue with this fault as there is always warranty and the option to return it, if not for the fact I have solid overlay timber floorboards. Re: Mighty cheap French Door fridge 6Nov 23, 2013 1:05 pm Yep. Risking $1000s in flooring to save a few $100? In your situation I wouldn't risk it. We're going for sealed, polished porcelain so it's not so much of an issue. I was alluding to the fact that (reading between the lines) a couple of those people said they had pulled the fridge out to make it work/find the leak. I inferred that they had a water connection low, behind the fridge. It's not unusual to kink the hose/dislodge the filter seal. I've seen it with people doing the same with washing machines and they have heavy duty hoses not the thin, flexible ones fitted on fridges. We've got our tap at 1800m so we can observe any leaks from the hose easily. Re: Mighty cheap French Door fridge 7Dec 29, 2013 11:18 pm Saw one of these at a auction a few weeks back, had a couple of small marks on the doors, and went for $1200. Came with a 3 month manufacturer warranty too. Sorely tempted to buy one then, but thought by the time I get the new house built and it installed it would be well past the warranty should anything go wrong with it, and where we are renting doesn't have water access to hook it up to test it out.
