Did I read correctly, you went for 2 pyrolitic ovens? I've heard of people going for two ovents, but how often do both get used? Cheers, Casa Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Anyone has Miele kitchen appliances? 22Apr 29, 2008 12:09 am ![]() ![]() By the time we added in the Induction hotplate, BBQ grill, Steam oven, Coffee machine & Plate warmer even with 7.5% Miele discount we are still up for nearly 20k. Originally when we submitted our wish list to the builder they wanted to charge us 22k for only the Oven, Steam oven, Gas hotplate, Rangehood & Coffee machine! This mean't that not only where they proposing to charge us close a 20% premium to upgrade to Miele appliances but they would also pocket the Miele discount as well! After much haggling and threatening to take our business elswhere they finally agreed to the Miele appliances at regular retail + Miele discount. Altough they will charge $150 for the installation of each additional appliance other than the oven, rangehood and hotplate. As to why we wish to spend so much I guess it comes down to the fact that my wife loves cooking and spends hours in the kitchen so hopefully she will get the full benefit of this gear and of course it means that she cannot begrudge me my Home Theatre!!!! I've heard of people going for two ovents, but how often do both get used? Cheers, Casa We're going for 2 ovens, or a double (but I don't think our budget will stretch to 1 pyrolitic, let alone 2). My reasoning is as follows.....we sometimes need extra oven volume (eg when DH cooks a roast), but for every day use, we will only need one oven. So rather than buying a 900mm oven and heating up all that extra space all the time, I'll only heat up that volume when I actually need it. That's our reasoning, anyway. ![]() Cheers 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Anyone has Miele kitchen appliances? 24Apr 29, 2008 4:58 pm ![]() jamiet, Did I read correctly, you went for 2 pyrolitic ovens? But I'm glad she got her way: 1. A wall oven is much friendlier on our backs, and we don't get a faceful of steam bending over an open underbench oven 2. As you say, we can heat up different "sizes" of space depending on what we're cooking 3. We can use the smaller one as a plate warmer independently of the temp in the main oven. Re: Anyone has Miele kitchen appliances? 28May 15, 2009 5:02 am reviving this thread as my wife (the chef in the family) is thinking of miele appliances.. i like to seek those who have Miele appliances in their homes... (1) Which of the following appliances will you give priority for a Miele? - Oven - Cooktop - Dishwasher - Rangehood Thanks! Building in Harvest Lakes, Atwell (Perth) status: design phase with builder Re: Anyone has Miele kitchen appliances? 29May 15, 2009 12:17 pm We had dilemmas choosing their oven, as we needed a 900mmm wide version and the Miele version wasn't all that great (their 600mm versions are pretty good however). I'm not a fan of their gas hotplates and can't see why I'd pay a premium over anything else and have an issue that the their induction hotplates require suitable saucepans. We did however go with Miele's Refrigerator, dishwasher, combi oven (this is really good) and their nespresso built-in coffee machine. We went with Ilve for main oven/hotplates (a combi stainless unit) and rangehood and we can't be happier. Re: Anyone has Miele kitchen appliances? 30May 15, 2009 12:24 pm thanks Daz.... anyone else? and usually how much can we knock off the RRP price for Miele appliances? Building in Harvest Lakes, Atwell (Perth) status: design phase with builder Re: Anyone has Miele kitchen appliances? 31May 15, 2009 1:19 pm ![]() and usually how much can we knock off the RRP price for Miele appliances? You'll only get a percentage off the price if Miele have a buy X amount get X off promo. Miele have a price fixing policy that I'm sure isn't kosher. FWIW I ran the line with the places we went to that whilst they couldn't discount the Miele stuff we were still purchasing items worth quite a high dollar value and that I expected that to be looked at favourably with the non Miele items purchased (and that was a sink, tap, Through counter waste bin and a Zip hot/cold filtered water tap). Think we got a $1200 tap for free on top of the rebate we were getting from Miele. We purchased the Ilve oven and rangehood from a discount place that had an opening sale on them, the other retailers couldn't come near on this price no matter what else we purchased. Building in Harvest Lakes, Atwell (Perth) status: design phase with builder Re: Anyone has Miele kitchen appliances? 35May 16, 2009 12:49 am We have a miele gas cooktop, oven and a Qasar rangehood, and are very happy with all of them. Miele no longer make the cooktop we have but the 24034 is the closest to it. We do a fair bit of wok cooking and prefer gas. The only complaint is the weight of the iron trivets makes cleaning them an exercise in bodybuilding. The new models seem to have lighter trivets. http://www.miele.com.au/au/domestic/pro ... _24034.htm The miele oven is great. It is so well insulated that the glass door generates very little heat. No chance of accidently burning oneself. And the lining of the oven, and the oven trays use this "perfectclean' enamel which is fantastic! We'd definitely go with Miele ovens and cooktops in the future, despite their price. Miele has a very good showroom in South Melbourne. The Qasar rangehood is fantastic and would recommend it over a Miele rangehood. Its an optional item in regards to the self cleaning. Meaning, you can choose ovens without this function. The price difference is approx $1k. i think we are tuned towards: (a) Oven - Miele (b) Steam Oven - Miele (c) Dishwasher - Miele or Asko (have not seen Asko yet) (d) Cooktop - likely not to be a Miele (e) Rangehood - likely to be a QASAR Building in Harvest Lakes, Atwell (Perth) status: design phase with builder Re: Anyone has Miele kitchen appliances? 38May 16, 2009 10:31 pm ![]() ![]() We have a miele gas cooktop, oven and a Qasar rangehood, and are very happy with all of them. Its a BIG rangehood. 1500mm wide. It is wonderful. Qasair have an amazing range (forgive the pun) of rangehoods. We looked at the range of Qasairs at Elite Appliances in Canterbury Rd, Surrey Hills, Victoria. But we got a discount through a relative who is an architect, from Buy Rite in Richmond. This was about 5 years ago. "The LCM rangehood is made with the switches underneath and the standard maximum height is 500mm. single motor rangehood has 3 switches, twin & triple motor rangehood has 5 switches. the rangehood is available with 1, 2 or 3 motors." http://www.qasair.com.au/images/spec_sh ... ec_Fed.pdf Re: Anyone has Miele kitchen appliances? 39May 17, 2009 12:39 pm We have the Miele range hood. It is 600mm as we only have a 600mm cooktop. The range hood is fantastic. VERY quiet and efficient. Our kitchen is open plan so a noisy range hood would drive us crazy. I can't fault it. We bought it around November I think, so it would be a recent design. The trick with a range hood is to make sure that the big tube thing that runs through the centre of the unit is as straight as possible so that the air doesn't have to bump around in the unit. Ours is ducted outside which makes a big difference too. Re: Anyone has Miele kitchen appliances? 40May 17, 2009 12:48 pm ![]() We have the Miele range hood.
