We haven't had any real problems with it at all. Oh wait, we got the finish that doesn't show finger prints, but the finish is rubbing off where the door handles are and it looks grotty. But nothing broke with it, apart from when we had mice and they chewed and peed on the wires at the back and it shorted out. Repair man put it under warranty for us, nice man. My mum loves the ice bucket in the freezer for her wine when she comes to stay. I must say, the freezer is just a tad bit too small for our family of 5. Good luck in deciding on your fridges. Would never have considered it. I am taking one of my larger platters to see if it fits in the fridge we end up getting. Hard to make an informed decision. Yeah. Although I think if you take care of it and it has a decent warranty it should be ok? I suppose you could buy a lemon from any brand/model. I think in the end we will just buy one that we like that will fit in our WIP and cross our fingers that it's ok. Dam straight I dont want to be the reason for a bad purchase Re: Fridge: french doors and water cooler any suggestions pl 34Jun 16, 2013 9:28 pm I have a Samsung SRF579DLS. I have had it for just over one year and it has worked faultlessly. It's a bit different to the other water/ice fridges as the water has a container which you refill manually and the ice maker is hooked up to the main. I don't use the ice maker. The manual refill water was one of the reasons I got it, as I didn't have a water point in the cavity (yeah one can be fitted...) and thus you don't need to replace a filter every so often. It also has different cooling circuits for the fridge and freezer parts which I believe cheaper fridges don't have. It is certainly on the cheaper end of the french door range but one thing which set it apart from the others was the door seal system. Most of the fridges around that price point have door seals which simply rub against each other whereas this Samsung model has that cantilivered panel like the more expensive models. One possible drawback with it, and has been noted about other brands here, is that you need to have both doors open to open up the right hand crisper draw or to open the little draw which sits under the middle shelf. The freezer, as it's a drawer (with a sub-drawer) is a bit like a chest freezer - you have to reach down into it, rummage around and so on. I'd really like that huge Samsung with the twin freezer drawers but that's quite a bit larger, both in dimensions and cost! Re: Fridge: french doors and water cooler any suggestions pl 35Jun 17, 2013 10:04 pm Good to hear you've had a great expereicne with that fridge Rodericb, After much research I've had that particular Samsung fridge as my top choice for when I finally get the keys to my house! I agree that the refillable water dispenser is also one of the features that caught my eye as I also don't have a plumbed tap to the fridge recess. I also prefer the chest style freezer design over the doors style, I personally think bending over is more comfortable that "kneeling" down to access the freezer. Samsung is now doing a $200 cash-back on the SRF579DLS so it makes it just that much more attractive! I'm also considering the larger Samsung french door model (SRF639GDLS) as its shape suits my recess better, being wider and not as deep. It also has a bigger cash-back! Argh such difficult decisions!
