Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Aug 25, 2012 10:39 pm Ok, an update to some of the other posts I have put up regarding kitchen reno and oven/cooktop choices. We were looking at Asko, Bosch and Smeg until a great offer on Seimens came along. It is the entry level pyrolytic oven so has no auto or guided cooking functions. We are fairly good cooks with a couple of standout dishes so would mostly just dial in temperature and knowing what we are doing or follow a recipe. However I have read about the auto cook features of some ovens (ie the Asko in the range we have been looking at), where you input what you are cooking and the weight and it does the rest perfectly apparently. anyone else use this feature? It does not matter if you are using any of the mentioned brands or not - just if you use the feature and if you think it is good. Re: Do you use auto cooking function on your oven? 3Sep 04, 2012 11:42 pm Haven't used it yet, but ours is set and forget; auto senses everything for you. To be honest though, we had been reluctant to use the autocook, as the program is not stated (ie what temperature and cycle, as ours is a combi-steam oven), and you have to trust the oven, but at a Master Class for owners, the company chef said the recipes have been extensively tested, and the temperature and humidity sensors will take into account environmental variances. Re: Do you use auto cooking function on your oven? 4Sep 05, 2012 10:59 pm Sounds great PHL, what oven did you buy? Please let us know how it goes once you have used it a few times. We have ended up with an oven with no auto cook function, but got a great deal on entry level Siemens pyrolytic. We are comfortable with choosing own temp, time and cooking element(s). Never thought we would end up with what we are getting - Champagne taste on beer budget. Re: Do you use auto cooking function on your oven? 5Sep 05, 2012 11:10 pm Siemens are great ovens; we considered getting one, as our induction and wok burner, and laundry, are all Siemens, but their Combi-Steam was rather small, so we went with V-Zug for the Combi-Steam (all singing, all dancing 51L) and larger pyro oven (like you, manual, but several functions). We find ourselves using the Combi-Steam mainly, due to the fast heat-up. Re: Do you use auto cooking function on your oven? 6Sep 05, 2012 11:20 pm Cheers PHL, I only heard about V-ZUG after agreeing to purchase the Siemens, though I have not yet found any suppliers in Adelaide. Thanks for your confidence in Siemens, hope you enjoy your purchases (sounds like you do). Re: Do you use auto cooking function on your oven? 7Sep 06, 2012 11:04 pm We've had the induction since if first came out 2-3 years ago, and just stored it for the new kitchen, buying the matching wok burner at the same time, but had Winnings store it. We were tossing up between the Miele and the Siemens for the oven, as we were initially sceptical of the V-Zug, but were suitably impressed with the demo to buy it. 2 3909 Hi Chippy, no there isn't, gave it a really good look through and literally opened everything and checked all edges as well. Hence the question, just hoping someone would… 2 1160 My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
